Looks like a water/forest scene to me, tall spindly trees reflected in the water, see it now El Caseron? I think it's very nice, maybe you could add more depth to it? Instead of flat black between the trees--a little more color to show deep forest?
If I'm way off base, and it's not trees, *laughs* well I'm sorry ![](http://www.sijun.com/dhabih/ubb/smile.gif) |

Yeah... it definetly looks like trees reflected on water... but I don't get the excellence in that...
Colours are well chosen though...

alright, no WAY are you gonna change this! I understand it perfectly and I think it's incredible! There's not much detail but thats just fine.
This picture is all about the atmoshpere to me. Don't add any more trees, the blackness is PERFECT. THis what what I was trying to do a little while ago. Don't listen to anyone who says its nothing special, cause I totally get it. |

Gives me a feeling that the trees are waiting by the water for something that'll probably never come, gives a sorta sad feeling. |

Lol, i love this picture, its so simple and nice.
The way i see it is a perspective of a navy SEAL holding a flash light and shine them through the mysterious land he's about to get on. |

Thanks everyone for the comments.
The idea here is to find a nice level of abstraction. Painting abstract stuff has helped me understand alot of composition and color. I just thought this one had a nice balance. that balance would definitly disappear if I added more depth between the trees. The picture needs a certain amount of "flatness" I think.

y'kno...that IS really cool. ;} hunh! for some reason, I'm seeing these in some fathomless scale. As if a figure or two could be down by the water's edge, no more than a quarter-inch high, mind you. probably less like about an eighth...
This could be an ancient forest. I LOVE it. ;}
...but why does it remind me of princess mononoke?

hmmm...well I have to say that it is very good to see you concentrating on the abstract parts that make up image composition.
You have Balance...I agree
what about
rythm...got that one too
repetition...its in there
variety...??????
economy...got that
emphasis...?????
movement...hmmm...a bit.
Balance...got that
Unity...seems unified
continuity(the way the eye flows around through implied lines etc..)
Opposites...in all ways..opposite colors, opposite shape quality, opposite edge quality...opposite colors...THE TRICK IS TO BALANCE AS MANY OPPOSITES AS YOU CAN THINK OF while keeping the continuity and the unity as well as the subtlty between them.
just some things to think about...

I agree completely with Isric. perfection in simplicity. or simplicity in perfection. or something. |

el tigre - Pekken Poo? =)
Jason - opposites....hmm...havent thought like that much except for warm/cool dark/light saturated/desaturated. Maybe I tend to get stuck in those alittle too much. Thanks for the tips!

i see why you and others find it appealing, but i think it's cliche :[
there's really nothing wrong with that. maybe i'm even wrong in saying that it.. |
