woho long time no topic. Been struggling with school & other personal stuff, so I didnt have any time to paint, thus lowering myself down into a deeper creative block.
anyways here goes

ww2 stuff, background pretty undetailed, but somehow I just..think its ok that way. Didnt start with the background, so it was a bitch to implant it later..I used some reference for the jacket.
hm maybe I should have studied for my 4 h long chemistry test I have next week, instead of painting... naw. Anyways comments, crits welcome, since im too tired to spot my mistakes..

YAY WW2 stuff, hell yeah. Old WW themes are great and a nice pic too! I like the color tones - represents the mood during ww2 good job and good luck on that block - I got one of those on thinking right now...

hey Binke, Nirrad here I've got to say you've grown a lot artisticly since the days of quake art. The image itself is pretty good, the subject looks pretty good though I wouldnt mind a little extra detailing here and there, namely a stronger light source. The netting on the helmet could be given some small shadow lines, and the clothing and helmet itself could do with some weathering.

I like the fire in the background, it looks pretty much like the real thing only strongly out of focus, to the point where only the halos of light are truly visible. Good stuff all around.

I really dig it binke, just one thing buggin me is that it doesnt look 'finished' i think you tight up the character more, and leave the bg as it is..
The hole pic looks like midtones to me..
Anyways keep it up

Looks a bit.. bland. Maybe get some more contrast in there? Anyway, great character but you need to sharpen him a bit up. Adding some mud and rips ehre and there to the uniform would help. Also, you may try going for the camo pattern. The trail in the background could benifit from...... tire tracks/tank tracks etc.

I think the helmet could be bigger; as for the parka - it's OK for wwII US schemes, but the straps look like ropes :/ - but I don't know what degree og detail you're aiming at, so...
I had a wwII related sketch for the November Topic Showdown, but broke up as it had a propaganda feeling and wasn't delivering the critique I aimed at, but you can see some uniform details - ah and my gasmask pic is an ideal reference for allied uniforms although situated in wwI,though not finished.

Solitare: I agree that the helmet probably should be bigger. But about the straps, according to my reference, which is a WW2 german camo uniform, there are supposed to be rope thingies there.

But then maybe its not historically correct. That the US troops had normal straps..? I'm not sure.
Thanks for the critique.
