has a neat feel to it. actually looks kinda human unlike most 3D heads i've been seeing lately! hehe

one thing that bugs me is the eye in the shadows. I don't really think it would react like that.. My advice would be to play with the surface and if it doesn't listen then make it a seperate one and dull it down.

unless, of course, you wanted it to shine like that.

Thanks
The eye is the thing that makes it look more like a cyborg.
At least I think so.

Reminds me of Vin Diesel's eyes in the movie. Pitch Black. Nice.

I like the head alot. Especially the overall shape and feel(not really the word I'm looking for but it'll do) of it. I really like the portion right above his left eye. It looks quite literally chiseled. The texture and the lighting are also very nice. Only things that I can see, the forehead might be a tad bit low (I could be way off on that one, it was just a feeling I got). Also, the indent into the eye socket close to the nose, might be a little too sharp.

Really nice looking head. The skin colors/texture looks very natural.

the top part of his head looks to small. I think it's cause you put so much detail into the mouth and nose areas, u just sorta made em bigger

Ever seen terminator? If it was a cyborg, perhaps you should change the eye structure on one a bit. The left eye isn't exactly convincing because if it actually was glowing in the dark, it would illuminate the surrounding areas. Kapish? Anyway, looks great so far, maybe make an animation outta it?

I wanna know how you textured that!
Looks really great.
And what technique you used for modeling (not an in-depth description. Just box modeling, surface tools, nurbs or whatever)

not too keen on the laser beam from the eye tho.

This one I have done with patches.
Started from a spline cage. Then converted it to polygons. And contiuned to work with polygons.

About texturing. It's a long story A lot of diferent textures mixed in photoshop. And then combined with procedural in max.

BTW What's wrong about the beam?

The beam is flying out to the left, not straight in front where the eye is pointing, maybe this is the effect you want. If you do make it go straight out, it will just look like a lens flare, maybe make the eyes and the beam point straight down , or something ?

Hm..
this is probably because of perspective and wrong eyes placement.

I will try to fix it...

Thanks

The original was perfect!! All the changes you made after that took away from the magic of the original.

The original really had a mood. It wasn't overstated. Everything else cheapened it.

So it went from quality ART in the original to sort of having a trapper keeper look once the beam was added.

*** don't take that negatively. Let me make this clear, *I love your image*. It's nice to see a head that has a realistic look without being photorealistic.

That gives it more life... 3d photorealistic heads look... dead.

Great piece!! Keep the original though and call it done! 5 stars!

Use some Mixer of noise to make the ray more transparent. Because a laser ray would have to be seen through smokey particles that will refract the light.

I was workin on a similar thing with mine. Just that I set it down month ago and haven't picked it back up!

See here my dude for the hell of it..
I put red laser rays in to his eyes using Volumetric lighting. Sorry for no example of that. I saw a site some where showing that tutorial..

Ahhh here is the Tutorial. http://www.mrs.umn.edu/~haugeb/tuts/laser/lasertut.html

The 2 versions I prefered were the original one, and the 1st version that have a laser.
