Well, after me and Christer have both been supplying babes for the editor of conan, she requested me to get this older, not quite done pic finally finished. since there is this madman haunting foodchains for magazines that are not good for kids(this guy already has stopped Spawn at several foodchains) I`ve been told to tone down the violence for the near future. So instead of the old "headharvester" this one is called "Triumph)
Also thrown in a remake of a old babe painting.
And alot of new sketches on my website http://home.enitel.no/vebsart/

Yeah, noticed something was changing, I think that guy must have hit my local supermarket. Now I have to go all the way into town just to get something interesting to look at.
Shame about that, I always prefered your more violent pics.
Nice axe, by the way! |

Vebjorn, you are an inspiration to me.
Youre art is awesome, man.
That second drawing, thats a remake of that post-apocaliptic world thing, right? |

to tha man from norway, well, there will be some more violence though, next issue(3.01) in about 4 weeks will be the acrylic "the duel" pic and it has some blood and dead bodies, but if you check the sketches on my site, you can see plenty of cut of heads and similar, and the editor was not too keen on having too many of the severed head covers on a row;-)
I`ll post some sketches ot work in progress

Your work is always so awesome. However, I do have a crit. The "Triumph" image looks sort of as though it's mirrored (mainly looking at the arms here)... just looks a little odd to me
I love the second girls hair... the way it's untamed and wild and has that really cool highlight coming on from the side. Wonderful stuff. Going over to your site now

Well I certainly like these better then the acrylics but they still come off looking a little weak.
Ok on the first one.. here are some thoughts I have on it:
The axe is a bit boring. Needs details and more mistakes.
The blood on the sword looks fake.
The woman is too large. Composition is boring. Maybe try putting 2 women on the left side.
The background details are not coherent and dont add a lot.
The second picture is better to me. But still her pose seems stiff for the given scene. Her weapon seems odd (its going behind her). I assume you did this to keep the forms strong but it does leave an odd feeling.
Id minimize the blood and highlights on the weapon..
Also why not put 1 more set of mountains..
Sorry I could not be of more help. Your work is quite good so I just critique on a higher scale. =)

Hey Veb, why don't the images in your tutorials work. I'd really like to see the process of getting these amazing paintings.
Keep up the great work! |

Hey Veb, I like the contrast you added in the girl pic, it makes it more dramatic. Good work as usual! |

Awsome Vebjorn, no real crits....or perhaps just a couple.
- I *think* I'm right when I say that with your guys, their arms seem too thick where they connect to the shoulder and the way the shoulder merges with the bicep. Also I think there arms are *slightly* too short..... Its something I've picked up with many of your pieces, though I could be wrong.
blah blah, your stuff kicks arse.
I'm off to check your sketches now... |

I think we are two different types of artist. Your more of a techinical guy/line guy (like Joachim?) and I'm more of a painter guy (like spooge). I think I read that somewhere. Its like in your acrylics you went to lengths to make sure all the figures were visible whereas spooge would have just blobbed them in... but thats another story.
Anyway.. I've not been able to turn out anything today original so I may have to copy for awhile. Very frustrating!! paint/draw 8 hours for nothing.
I like some of your works on your site quite a bit more so it may be a style issue too. I'm leaning to the old masters right now and your liberal use of colors and burnt highlights is what I'm trying to avoid. But I may end doing the same myself.
I'm curious also to how these will look printed.. they may look much better as the white will not BURN so much but may just look brighter. And the colors may tone down some too.
Also.. I dont want to get anyone in argument/trouble but have you noticed the simmiliarty between your colors in second girl and the seeg-miller picture? I like them both but I notice they are a *little* simmiliar.
Last.. if you or anyone else knows who to contact for doing game magazine covers, comic work, or other types of contract art work then please email me. I'm trying to get a few contracts as well.

How bright the white highlights appear is very differnet from screen to screen.(mostly due to brightness/contrast) I have to make test prints (with a hp deskjet 1220c) which makes near identical prints to what the REAL prints will.
But for the top imgae here, I think I might have gone to far making Conan stand out from the red background making him white.

Light; well, comments on microdetails are infact also needed. These are not my best,I don`t have much passion for them any longer, and I`m just making them passable since I`ve been requested todo so. So Light..Keep doing it I wish I could see all the little things myself, although I do, but only after weeks. I usually finish images and send off to the editor as soon as she gives the green light, so I can get paid, and see the result. I`m one impatient sucker. In contrast, Christer Sveen, who recently/still working on a awsome babe image he started this last fall;-D The result is becoming no less than stunning. I on the other hand end up with making about half a dozen or more within the same timeframe, but most has a more rushed feel to them.
Look out for my next image. I will post stages as it progresses. so you`ll get a better tutorial.

Veb, i really like the skintones
and colours on the second one. I also love those mountains in the background.
What bugs me is the pose. I think it's stiff and don't tell the viewer much about her personality or attitude. She looks very forced into that enviroment in a way. I think the blood on the axe also is unecessary since there is no trace of blood and no body lying on the ground.
The pose also suggest that she is totally calm, but have'nt she just been in a battle?
I think the first painting also suffer fromm the same problem. It does'nt say much about the situation, just posing in front of the viewer. I don't mean to sound harsh, i think your'e really talented artist, just wan't to try to help

Thanks Micke.
But Wivi(conans editor) wants me to tone down violence a while. So I had to remove the chopped off head, and dead body...I`m showing her the image today...maybe we`ll come up with a better solution;-)

Hey I figured out whats wrong the pose of the second girl.. open her hands!
I think it will help it.. try an open hand pose. Might help loosen it some..
ok.. hope you get this.
