Well.. it was one his pictures I used for reference on the shading. I started was going to do something like beet has been posting but anyway then it kept changing and I decided Id shade it a new way.
Its simmiliar to broms work in that the shading is low constrast, the foreground is light, the edges are fairly sharp, and its horrorish. Also the background is not ultra detailed like Broms work.. its more typical oil painterish.
Btw.. this is also simmiliar to Durers work in a few ways as his painting style is simmiliar to broms (even tho hes a bit dead).
Mine has some soft edges tho and anatomy is not as strong.. |

This is my latest original pic.. I used some references for the shading. i tried to give it a brom style but its still 100% original.
It may be finished or it may be 99% finished as I may do something with his forehead. I know the anatomy is not great but I still like it..

Hey!
you need to practice more on faces, i think it's got potential.
i dunno about the colors... i'd put more values in...
i suck at critisizing tho..
your pic inspired me!
i will only post the url here because i don't want to ruin your thread. http://home.swipnet.se/tyron/clown.jpg |
