i think i'm repeating myself. i should be experimenting a lot more but it's less exhausting to keep doing the same stuff over and over again . i would like to hear some honest critique to make me try harder.

I think those look really nice janne. You have a great style and your really good at combining colors in interessting ways.
I do agree a bit with you though, that it would probably good for your devlopment to try out some new techniques and motifs. Maybe you could start using a more line work and also include backgrounds.

I see them both.
They're not looking too cheery, are we gonna see some varying expressions in the future?

Nice. Colors are better than in many of the earlier pics I've seen.

These look veery gray on my monitor. But i think it's just my monitor.

Bluntly put :
You ARE repeating yourself. These, i think, belong in your "just fine" gategory. A bit boring maybe ? Nice colours though ..

I think the 2nd pic is impressing, though the 1st one seems a bit out of proportions.

If I wasn't going to tell you to concentrate on the backgrounds like you're supposed to for some time, I'd wonder why on earth haven't you been using this kind of color changes in your oil paintings?

And I forgot to say the hair on the girl is great.

Hey Janne! =)

I love your use of colors, very interesting indeed.

The mouth on the girl seems odd, as though her nose was too long and pushing her mouth down into her chin, but I love her eyes. Her hair seems on another perspective plane and axis, giving it an odd look I guess.

The guy is great, love the tones and colors... amazing... but something strikes me as bad on the nose at the eye level, where it meets the forehead.

All in all, nice very work, but I would guess you should sketch out forms before painting them in to make sure things work in perspective and anatomically. Backgrounds and sceneries would be a very nice thing for you to work on. =))

cheers mate!

Been looking forward to seeing some new work from you.

Digging the colours, to be able to incorporate such different tones and make them work is quite an...err...art.
The quick seperate strokes around the guys neck area are very cool. By looking at that it would seem you'd be able to turn out speed pics of that calibre quite easily.

Crit- her left(our right) upper arm needs to be extended before joining the elbow, I think you know this though...?.
- perhaps you could place a touch more highlight on the guys nose, its just a little flat at the mo.

Great stuff, more please!

heh... More great stuff from you Janne. Been wondering what you've been up to lately. And I'm glad to see that you still paint.

They are both great. I think the face of the girl is a bit flat and too evenly shaded. The colors are great!! The male face is just awesome. I agree with Frost though that the nose seems wrong. It doesn't fit with the rest of the face and shold be the part with the brightest tones. Colors are superb. I really admire how you dare to put those big 'blurps' of opaque paint in. Looks really really nice!
,Boom

I love the way you used the colors on (for?) the skin (especially the second one). I've tried to use very saturated blue and green for skin but it looked horrible. I think it still doesn't work if I try to use colours like these.

Nice stuff. I love the painterly technique of which you've clearly got a good grasp. To be perfectly honest, the first painting doesn't do much for me, but the second is quite evocative. I love the colours and the brushwork, and the idiosyncratic hair tufts make me smile. It's a very beautiful, warm (despite the predominant blues) picture.

Hi Janne

I'm with everyone else: your stuff really rocks. The use of colour is just great. Its so hard to pull off colour like that without making it look like a muddy mess, but you really succeed. I particularly liked your whole "gasmask" series.

Of these 2 pictures, I'd say the first one does have a bit of an unfinished look it it, and is less impressive than the 2nd picture. I went rooting through your directory (sorry...bad me...) and besides the copious amounts of porn (kidding) there was some other great pictures that you really should show off some time. It looks like you had a webpage at one time, perhaps its time for another reincarnation of it?

Yep,

what everyone else said, particularly immi. For years I've been scraping mud off my monitor, keyboard, dog...

Great job!

I have to say one of the things that catches my eye the most is the wonderful movement the strokes carry throughout the works. This is greatly apparant in the first work, as the entire painting seems alive with energy, flowing from one part into another. Great style.
