Hello Fellow Visualists! I thought I'd finally post an image as many of you have so graciously been doing! I love sea life and am enthralled by Jellyfish and their hypnotic, fluid motions and their glowing brilliancy. I saw some nice Moon Jellyfish at the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha with my wife and later more nice ones at the Maui Ocean Center on the beautiful island of Maui where my wife and I were married this summer. I'm looking forward to doing more sea life and definitely other subjects as well, but these kept coming to my mind, so I had to paint them. These are not really Moon Jellyfish, nor Box Jellyfish (though they're closer to the latter) but rather a combination of the two. Comments are welcome of course. The original file is 300 dpi @ 3300 x 2500 or something like that. Enjoy!

This is nice. It actually feels very soft and moody, quite the contrast to the tirle you've given it.

Theres not much of a sense of space but I suppose there wouldnt be in deep ocean water... maybe if you added some bits of plankton or other tiny elements to make the background seem more alive perhaps?

Other then that the defenition of the Jelly fish themselves could be strengthined. Nice over all.

neato. i'm assuming you have the jelly fish in their own seperate layers, but, you ought to try increasing the transperancy of the purple one to make it seem farther off. i think it would give the picture a lot more depth.

Darrin - Thanks. The jellyfish aren't defined more as I wanted the feel like the soft diffused edges they had in the photos of the Moon Jellyfish I had taken.

Icannon - I do have them on seperate layers, however, slightly different than one would normally do for some bizarre reason that escapes me. I thought about making the purple one a bit darker to suggest depth, but when I tried it, the picture lost something. The purple jelly was a late addition. Though, I may go ahead and keep trying to achieve that depth a little more.
