decent textures, but I think they need something more -- some kind of focus, or tension.

Hmm... I consider giving it a more controversial title next time. To drag attention towards the topic...

Holy shit!
Thanks, man. I'm going on a symetry rage. Hehe.
I was wondering, what dpi do you usually scan in? I use 300dpi, is that a little over the top, maybe?

300dpi is fine, its from there onwards that you'd want to scan photo's. Passed 600dpi is pointless unless your enlarging.
But simply lower it untill its too grainy or not sharp enough, basically play around untill you find whats suitable. |

Youre going to want to scan everything that touches your scanner as a 600dpi .TIFF file. Maximum detail. Reason : you can allways downscale a large file, but upscaling a small one is beyond sacrilege.
Besides, that way you can make Really Big Stuff(tm) that you can Print Nicely. Dont confine yourself to measly 1280x1024 wallpapers.

Yes I know, Spit. I are smert 'nuff. Feh.
I also do my stuff in 2000x1600 now, so...
BTW, what's the advantage of saving as TIFF? Other than getting a big-as-fuck filesize?
Oh and shush, Freddio.
