I've been reading this forum for a while now and I thought it was time to post. I've been wanting to make comments but I thought it would be appropriate for someone to crit me before giving my 2 cents I did this image for the guys at Qxygen.com. Took me about a week off and on to complete it. I used alot of ingame screenshots to help me build the scene and it was done with a wacom tablet and Photoshop 5.5.

(Takes a deep breath...) OK....so what do you think?

Hey Steve, I've been a long time fan of your work. Almost everything you do turns out pretty good. Admitedly there are a few peices that seemed a little bit buggered in terms of composition and perspective, but I'm rambling.

This image is pretty damn good, one of the best I've seen you do. The lines are clear and defined, and I like the design of the face mask. The shoulder mounted oxygen tanks look a bit like they're attached to the front of the mask though. I would say if you added a second pair to the right shoulder it would look just fine.
Anyway I love the attention to detail as always. The blood wafting off the hands is a nice touch, as are the armor clips on the protective leg plates, which was admittedly my favorite part of the Grunt player model.

Anyway keep rockin Steve!

Darrin,
Hey thanks for the nice crit, I appreciate it! Yeah I know what you mean on my pics being buggered, I always get in too much of a hurry and end up with results I'm not happy with. But I'm starting to take my time on my drawings now.

Great idea on the shoulder mounted oxygen tanks, I was actually shooting for them being attached to the front of the mask...but you know ? I like the sound of the shoulder mounted tanks better. Thanks again.

hey, my only crit would have to be his facial expression. he looks a little crosseyed and disgruntled as if he needs to pee really bad

other than that its wonderful, better than i can do of course. i like how the face mask is digging into his head, makes it that much more realistic

ps. is that a cowboy hat at the bottom of that tank? u know, u can see it between his arm and torso

it's all a conspiracy!

Yeah, I know how it is to want to have an image done yesterday. Of course I'm far more impatent then most I think its because my body produces a constent level of caffeen or something similar. Anyway its good to hear you'll put that extra five minutes of tender lovin into your work now, I know you're going to add a new layer to your already fantastic stuff.

Yeah, the tanks on the face would fit with the "pick up and go" theme of the weapons and items in Q3A, but even still it throws me off. Its like giving the guy a chin a mile long Maybe if they were on the side of the head instead, or perhaps were smaller rebreather style peices, a few inches long at most. Just a few ideas.
