WOW.

Nice, very, very nice. I like how there's these out-of-focus blades of grass/leaves in the foreground. Sort of a photographic effect. Nice touch.

When you say "funny-looking brushes", you referring to Painter or Photoshop? Amazing work for Photoshop, IMHO.

Way cool, Captain!

I especially love your use of depth, particularly the blurred fronds in the extreme foreground. Do you know it was because of you that I even noticed this concept and am trying to incorporate it into my paintings? You are an inspiration. Thank you for being a constant kick in my art butt. ;}

Oh, and please do take a look in a couple days at my savannah picture I'm going to post. I'm trying to use the depth technique in my first pic using a landscape, and the first time I drew a gun of any sorts. ;} I could use feedback.

Great work! Keep it up! Thanks!

Oh, and ---pssst!--- incidently, it's woman. I'm a girl. ;} 25 years worth.

Not that you'd know that any other way. ;}

reminds me of some good old 2D point-and-click adventures... like Flight Of The Amazon Queen... or the Monkey Islands.

Looks pretty good there. Lots of texture. I would add some more defined ferns to seperate the background area(with the waterfall) from the forground. Maybe add some more bright greens and dark shadows near the "entrance" to the jungle we're in. That would seperate it from the less saturated colors of the background. Keep at it!

[edit: wow. anyone wanna tell me why this thing posted twice?]

Anyway, I tried to email you, and we seem to be having server problems here at work...again...*sigh*. I'm not listed under 'merekat'. That is a relatively new name I've chosen. I go under 'krys'. But there are fifty-million krys' in icq, so I'll just track down your number and we'll go from there. ;}

Cheers!

haha...ahhh, captain, my captain. ...'tis Ms.

But I happen to be one of the lucky ones that have found their angel. Though it's still rough, because he lives two states away. But I plan on moving to be with him in the late spring, so it's all good. ;}

However, I do very much like to tete-a-tete with artists I hold in high respect. So if you would like yet another voice in icq, let me know. :}

...course...dang. you're like at least 6 or 7 hours difference, hunh? What time is it for you? As I write this, my clock says 345pm monday the 22. I'm at work, unfortunately...

Oh, and I didn't know I had a fan club? hahaha. ;} Thank you, good sir. You'll like that savannah pic, I promise. ;}

Beautiful! You can almost feel the moisture in the air. Only the ferns look a little too "copied", as you have stated. But the atmosphere is coming across. Nice depth of field-effect too.
