Well this here is what I like to call a ah...hmm...forgot...oh well..couldn't have been that important. Oh yeah, this is a rendering of a ship that a co-worker of mine(Francis Tsai) designed a while back, it was supposed to be for an animation that we were going to work on together, but I've had to delay it since work got hectic. I changed the design a bit, and I ripped the sky from something that Derek Becker a.k.a. Aunt May(another of my co-workers here at presto)had done a while back. So, if you want to give some crits to me, Francis, or Derek please do! If not, then just lemme know if you like it!

it might just be me, but the right wing seems shorter than the left...

You are a tribute to your name

Nice detail on the ship... the left wing looks a bit off though.

This looks like it was drawn by someone who giggles uncontrolably and has a thing for IHOP.

well gee whiz, thanks, ah...well..that's a good comment about the perspective of the wing, but, I think that the angle makes the left wing look longer because the right wing is coming almost straight at you, oh, and sorry to ah...disappoint you guys, but this isn't a painting, I modeled, textured,Lit, and rendered it in 3D Studio Max, that's why I'm pretty sure the right wing is as long as the left But then again, 3dmax seems to like to mess with my mind, so it could have made the left wing a little bit longer just to spite me. Oh yeah, and I do work at Presto with Francis and Derek.

Nice work but do you think the right wing looks a little too short?

You guys are forgetting how warped perspective can be in 3d programs. Looks great, I'd love to see some of the textures you created for it.

This plane is a-symetrical.

The wings are two very different shapes.

One is rounded, the left is not.

There is no way you could miss the fact that they are neither the same shape or size..

I think everyone here is right. The perspective is screwed. Next time just draw it with a pencil instead of constructing it in 3D. It'll be much more accurate that way.

You guys have me convinced, these damn computers will be the end of us, always screwing things up, well, maybe 3d Max has a grudge against me, or maybe he just doesnt like all you crazy people, and wanted to mess with your minds, and make you look foolish. HAHA! Well, anyway, here are a few different angles and a top & bottom view with textures turned on/off,

I'll post the diffuse/specular/bump maps if you guys want me too, just say pretty please, and admit that you were all WRONG ( except those who disagreed with the crazies)

Here are a top and bottom view for y'all

Just kidding. Here is my original crappy design sketch and Craig Mullins' cool atmospheric paintover. I'll let you decide which is which. Sorry to clutter up your thread Delirium Boy.

Hey, it's not my fault if my crazy designer can't make something symmetrical, or draw a straight line, or read. I mean hey, maybe if every once in a while I got something shaped more like, say, the millenium falcon, then I might give him some credit, but do I ever get anything shaped like the millenium falcon? See, I bet you guys all think that the millenium falcon looks asymmetrical too....crazy people...

very nice. Although I think the air/space craft looks far better from below than from above. Maybe its because of the tubes and other stuff that makes it look sort of homemade... I don't know if that was what you intended with the design anyway?

Cool renderings and the texture job is pretty neat also. Was the images rendered with the scanline renderer or a thirdparty one? show us more!!

,boom

thanks for the comments everyone, got me thinkin' I maybe shoulda put this in the "Work in progress" area.

BooMSticK: I agree, the ship is very weak from the top, although the crappy angle I chose for that one shot doesn't help, I've actually had some nice looking pics from the front. I think what I really need to do is rework the entire front cockpit area, and maybe add something to make it look more finished on top, since it looks like they ran out of time when making it and didnt add the panels that cover up the innerds, unlike the bottom which is mostly covered and I think looks finished. I used the standard scanline renderer in max with a pro optic suite glow over the entire image[the thrusters are 2 combustions on inside the other...a red(smaller),and a blue(larger)], then took it into photoshop and tweaked a few things, including the size of the original image(hint: what I did blurred the image), to help make it look less CG. Thanks again for the crits.
