Got sleepy Hollow dvd...and just had to make this. (Note..this is my own pose, not just done from a pic from the movie. )
Have a version in progress with a helmet and more detailed horsehead for a quick conan cover conversion...hehe.

I chose to keep the details on hte horse to a minimum, since, like in the movie, there`s never much attantion to the horse..since the horseman has no head, any detailed horsehead expression would probably take away
from the main focus..

Wow, that's great, Veb! I really like the way the composition draws you to the place where his head.. isn't. Excellent mood to this pic. Can't wait to see the conan version.

Good atmosphere.

The horse could use some work. The legs feel a bit thin. I wonder if his has something to with the back and front legs being close to the same size? The shading on the horse is pretty good but doesnt seem to enhance the anatomy and also seems to be too sharp.

Last, the axe may look better if it was directly behind the horseman and a little higher.

Still, good work.

Wow, I love this movie and I love your composition! Maybe you can also try to make the headless horseman with the burning pumpkin-head, maybe with a nice glow.
Your composition inspirates me very much, thanks!

Looks good veb, only suggestion I'd have is the way he's holding the axe; The wrist position seems unnatural... If it wasn't finished, I'd suggest instead of making the axe turned towards the inside, to make the axe turned towards the outside of his body, and lower the arm/wrist slightly, giving the impression of he's brandishing it threateningly, rather than at the apex of his swing...But the horse looks great man.

I love the reddish tones you put in the bottom near the horse's feet-yummy! this is the kinda feel I wanna get, but mine's always too smooth! Thanks for the inspiration

I agree, the warm tones seem to pull it all together.

I too loved that movie, and I am a huge fan of your stuff Veb. This is actually my favorite piece from you.. I'm not exactly into the fantasy/Conan stuff, but your style and skill always impresses me. This however is of a subject matter that ALSO impresses me, which makes this a perfect pic in my opinion. Great work, man!

Sleepy Hollow is one of my all time favorite movies, and you have done an excellent job with the picture. The lighting is wonderful, and the mist looks great, as do the trees.

I guess I'm biased because I'm completely in love with this movie... but this is awesome! I'd love to have this one as a poster on my wall...

...hell, I'd love to have it covering my entire wall!

Man, this is great! Sleepy Hollow is possibly one of my very favourite films of recent years, and this captures it's spirit perfectly.

Well, amost. It needs more mist. There's something a bit unsettling about the position axe, too. The axehead looks as if it's slightly at the wrong angle... I think we're seeing it a bit too much from the side.

Veb, you're stuff is truly fantastic! Tim Burton's a creative genius which many have yet to realize! Your work is very much like Frazetta, Brom, and very Vallejo, yet distinctly your own! I would think it would have been more accurate to have a sword in his hand or better yet, have the axe/sword arm down at his side, slightly out and back and getting ready to strike. But I could see that it might get lost in the trees image-wise. Also, the horse's ears blend too well with the rest of the head...maybe some steam or fog and breath from the horse. I love it though, especially the background! Hell, it's still better than I could do! Great work! Your site is fantastic too, btw. And lucky Ray Park, first he gets to play Darth Maul, then he gets to play the actual Headless Horseman, then Toad in X-Men. Cool characters for a cool guy!

This is quite nice. I really like the
hazy background.
The head of the horse(mainly the ears) and the neck don't look right to me. I've never drawn a horse before, though so maybe it's just me..

Nice to see you posting again
