Hi everybody!
I have'nt been posting too much lately, but i still try to read as much as i can here.
I did a New painting this evening based on a model that i buildt and painted.
I've toned down the colours on it alot so
you'll get the same de-saturated feeling
like when Boba Fett is in Jabbas palace.
also i was inspired by Spooge's Alien pic that he posted some time ago(love the colours on it).
There are a couple of things wrong here and there, but i'm not sure how to solve them, so i just leave it up to you guys. I'm not sure if i'm gonna work on it more, but i would like some crits anyway.
I'm very impressed by the quality of the artwork here at the forum lately Very inspiring indeed.
Have a nice weekend!
Cheers,
-Mikael

I sense the influence of the old masters in this one yet it has a very modern minimalist feel to it. I'm digging the color useage but there's something to be desired in the composition of this particular piece. I can't put my finger on what I like and don't like about it really...oh WAIT, I've got it!!! Try posting the image so we can see it.
Hehe, I couldn't resist.

Bobba Fett heaven . . .
Your earlier drawing and Francis's drawing, now this. Love em.
What I would really like to see though (and this is what made Francis's pick so incredible) is Mr Fett in new bounty hunter-esque surroundings. Some new locations perhaps, some intruiging victims . . .
New Star Wars material from talented artists really gets me going.
Just a thought.

Now that does kick a fair amount of ass. The lighting's awesome, it definitely makes me feel like I'm in the Star Wars universe, or at least I can easily imagine his possible surroundings given this picture and its lighting.
I'm no Star Wars buff or Boba Fett expert so I don't see anything wrong with Boba himself. The picture looks very well done but you can certainly see that the left side is more finished than the right side. Even saying that though, it kinda helps me focus on the helmet and the lighted area around his shoulder. Just throwing out random thoughts here.
But like I said, it looks awesome man, glad you found the time to post!

Love the highlights, this is some of your best realistic work I think. I do find myself wanting some more low-end definition . . . it doesn't seem like you're using all of your value range.
Nice though.

Looks so good. I love how the forearms and hands are a bit fuzzy, as if this were a photograph taken 8 inches away from the figure.
I really like the dark parts on Boba's right arm - near the elbow Nicely rendered! |

Hi Micke!
That's great! I really like the crispyness in this, and how solid it all looks. Boba Fett was one of my favorite Star Wars characters when I was a kid. Still think the design on the guy is awesome. You did an excellent job capturing him. It would be cool to see him in some kind of background setting, some action going on behind him or something like that. Making his left arm/wrist area a bit sharper and defining those shapes a little more would maybe help slightly and pull the whole thing together.
Keep up the great work, you're getting better and better every time you post a new image, always fun to see what you're up to. If you and Joachim are still taking those life drawing classes, I'm still keen to join you like we talked about.. (even right next to where I live too...heh) Haven't been too much life drawing at work lately, so I definetly need to keep at it.

Micke: That is incrediblly nice. Congratulations! I love the bright side of him, but the other side seems too matte compared to the other side, and the edges too soft. To make it seem more reflective and simular to the other side, you'd just have to lighten up the surfaces and harden them up a little. Again, Wow! Your latest drawings have been incredibly awesome! I'm very proud of you - you definitely have gained a lot of proficiency in your capabilities at rendering! Very nice my friend, very nice! |

Wicked pic micke. I saw a pretty cool Boba on the cover of this month's (premiere issue) of Star Wars gamer magazine. I don't have it with me at work otherwise I'd scan it in and show all. But the style the artist used is pretty smooth. Check it out at a newsstand near you. |

Really nice. Has more realistic look than most of your paintings. Looks like there's a texture layer on top.
Dunno what to crit, I like the sharp brights, and how the focus is on the arm/helmet. I wouldn't change it much if at all.
