Here it is, im really happy with the picture, thats the first time i try to do a background (ok it is not a complicated background, but it needed to be simple for the situation) and in fact the first time i try to do some "scene"

i spent about 5 hours on this one i think.

crits and comments are always welcome and much appreciated, i want to improve

here it is :

PS : i know the fingers are really simple but it was intended, its part of the character (i will show some full body comcept if this guy later)

[edit] : here is a link to the full size version for interested people (266k)

Unbelievably nice! hehe
But there's one thing i would change...
It looks like he's got the line of 4'0! trough his ears.
Would look better if you move the line more to the top...

Anyways, good pic,
i wished i could do those good pics...*hmpf*

Thanxs a lot for the comments guys.

Senator you're right about the line, it would have been maybe more clever to draw it a bit below the ears but i dont feel like changing things again

hehe death.tool yes i found it funny

thanxs Synj, im honored by these comments

when i said he was right i meant that maybe the composition would have been a bit better with the line below or above the ears ... but i'm not sure and you're right i enjoy the pic as it is

shardik, yes that was something i wanted to do, as well as having the inscription on it drawed with a sort of chalk or paint, but i tried and i didnt get what i wanted so i abandonned it for now, i will look at old boards, signs for reference and maybe change that later

[edit] i added a link to the full size version in the first message of the thread

i am joining the anti-line camp, and i will fight synj to the death over this issue!

one part of composition is to avoid having lines coincide in bad places. like you don't want to have the edges of two 3d objects on different planes matching up exactly. it confuses the viewer. like this.

cool idea tho. its come a long way since the original post.

salut mime,

(don't know how to say in english , sorry )

the pic's idea is really nice, the alien guy looks caught in the act looks very sympathic

Jeffery thanxs for the reply, well thanxs for the advice i will remember ot for the next time, but i dont think i wont change this one since when i designed the character i had in mind a size of about 4'3'' and i dont really want to redo that but i will think more about confusing lines problem for my next pic
