Hello, everyone! I've been in lurk mode for a while now, and finally got the courage to pick one of my pieces for posting.

Here's a very accurate representation of my default style and attention to detail. But I do a variety of things. So, please, by all means, have fun and fire away. Mind, though, she IS a moving target. Hope you have good aim! ;}

One thing: I realize the bent leg may look a little funny. Don't know if I want to bother fixing it, though. I think it's a question of lighting...

I hope you like it. ;} I had a lot of fun drawing it. Painter, btw. First try in the program. I'm a photoshop kinda gal, actually... Thanks for taking the time to see my stuff. And I hope to hear your opinions. ;}

[edit: my bad with linking. ugh. ;} thanks for the help, Akolyte! ]

I don't know why you had to get up the courage to post. That is excellent. Yeah the leg seems a little awkward since it's a still image, but since she is in motion, I see it as just an inbetween motion, and nothing abnormal. I would be jealous if I didn't get motivated by people that are a shitload better than me hehe.

is the background a manipulated photo, or pure painter?

Merekat: This is very nice indeed! I love the cheeky expression on the face! The spider's web is a neat touch too. You have a good sense of anatomy and proportion.

One thing though. I notice that the lighting on her leg and upper body seems to be coming from the right. The lighting on the plants in the background is coming from the left. If you have the pic on 2 seperate layers then you could just flip one or the other horizontally.

I'm glad you decided to post some of your stuff as I like your style alot.

Tee hee! Thanks, you guys! ;} I am really happy Mira was well-received so far. Great compliments. ;}

Irulann: Yeah, I'm all for more women getting up on the boards. I'm sure you don't need to be reminded of some of the opinions this industry has of female artists. Two phrases of my work that still sticks out in my mind today (from the comic industry, specifically): 1)"Where's the big eyelashes and all the cute little things? You're not drawing like a girl!" and 2)"Wow. This is really professional stuff. And you're a girl, too!"

Ugh.

hahah. ;} I don't mind too much. If they're that impressed, they'll remember me better than ten guys with similar stuff that walked in the convention... ;}

And it's a manipulated photo. Oddly enough, the lighting helped me get some realistic lighting into my figure. It was quite useful for balance. ;}

Ceenda: HA! By golly, I never noticed that. You are quite right about that light pinging the thigh. Geez, and that was one of my favorite parts because of the contrast...

But, as for the upper torso, that purple light? I was going for the translucent light shining through the purple wings. The wings aren't completely opaque, but the light illuminating them I thought might glow them out accordingly. And what light DID manage to get through, would frost the skin. Hmmm...maybe it didn't work so well...

Ah well. Paint and learn, yes?

Thanks, though. ;} Did anyone notice that the spider is sorta along for the ride, willingly or no? Not like she gave him much of a choice... ;}
