I personally think it looks like it would be smaller sized ship. I think there are two things that make it looks smaller, rather than bigger.

1.) There is nothing else in the scene for size relation. (I realize it's just concept and not a whole composition.)

2.) The size relation of the details to the actual ship suggest that it is small. If there were a ton of smaller details all over it the I would think it was massive but since most of the details are quite large, it seems to me that the ship is pretty small.

I think number two is what really makes me feel like it's small. I hope that made some sense.

Is this ship going to be in the animation with the fast, dog-like mech that you posted in the other forum? When you complete it, I'd love to see it (As I'm sure many others would too).

But I really like the direction that the designs are going. The shapes are really nice on both this one and the dog-like mech thingy.

Nice work , im not sure i agree with cheese boy, the design looks fine too me. There is only 2 points i'd make.

1] The text printed on the size looks really unconvincing, i'd remove it, or change the font and size.

2]I'd change the engines, those engines dont look like they could move a massive ship like that.

As i said good work.

It's an interesting little ship and I would like to fly it some day, but I agree with cheese. It doesn't seem like a big ship, it looks like it would be no more large than a blimp.

But I still think it is a great design, and the colour brown was an excellent choice.

I remember a thread about big ships on the forum a few months ago.
Loki (I think), Spooge and a few others had interesting points about what kind of subtilities it takes to give the illusion of a great spaceship.
It was mentionned -if I remember well- that it's not necessarly the amount of detail only that gives that result altho it generaly works Nor is it necessary to put teeny tiny detail all over the ship. Suggestion is better.
Angle and POV of the ship greatly accentuate the impression of something large. Maybe slightly curved or tweaked perspective.
And yes size relation references are the ultimate giveaway but in space unless you'd kick a astronaut outside you're pretty limited !

This thread is probably not very far in the forum's archive. I recommend diggng a little if you're much into spaceships as it's rich in ideas.

-ege and her 2 bits.

It looks awfully aerodinamic for a spaceship. I thought that that stuff didn't matter in space. Well you could say that it's a military ships and the design is to confuse enemy radars.

Very nice,

one major problem I don't think I saw mentioned: when you put that in space you won't be able to see it too well because of the dark colors, why do you think all these shows st/sw, bassically all sci fi uses greyish ships. change the hue/ saturation and it will look better w/ backgrounds

Hey I seen your ship and I thought that I would point out that there isnt a whole lot wrong with the ship it just needed some enviroment ..it was naked..now this is just a little 5 minute touch up but it helped because the ship alone looked flat and I personaly find it hard to recognize some objects when they are not in an enviroment..anyways here ya go...

Nice background, except the stars seem a bit blurry to me. (shrug

I think the one thing that makes a big ship convincing is to have tons of tiny lights for windows on it, like a building, if you will. I took a second look and then I noticed that you had some, but they are difficult to make out. I'd add more, and make them brighter.

Also, that yellow circle in behind seems questionable. An engine? I just think it's a good idea to make ship parts a little easier to make out, but that's just me. The color is a very icky shade of yellow too (sorry but I abhor yello). It needs to glow. =)

Nice design. Its a fresh look.

Size. Well I had a thought.

'Usually Large spaceships are made up of thousands of pieces, like a boat is made of panels of steel. Spaceships like the ones in Star Wars and even the death star look big maybe because of all those panels and bits. NOT neccesarily detail. Just try playing around with that idea.'

I'd agree with the POV (point of view) idea and the windows, mentioned already. Of course environment helps too.
