Composition from 50 printing dots from the corner of an old magazine that had a little tiny golf course add with some trees like this.

craig i gotta say this is probably the first pic i've seen by you that i didnt immediately like. (hides) i like the treetops and the pond but i think that this image needs something more.. if its just a copy of the composition from that little image could you please post that as well so we can see what you are going for?

apart from the fact that the trees still look better than any tree i could draw (i don't get that. trees have some bad vibe that just ruins my attempts at trees.) but it's still pretty weak overally.

though 50 printhell -dots? takes alot of eye to get something proper out of that. but then again, that's more than enough considering your ability to render just about anything with that damned paintbrush tool. (!@#�~!)

but then again, since i know nothing about drawing and graphics and design and whatnot according to the majority of the forum, i don't know.

looks good,i just like anything u come out with pretty much, if its the colors you use or the shapes you build, im always in awe.

faust, with such a small picture, i think youd take the big shapes and colors and pretty much inlarge them, and go on from your imagination

anyways i always like to see landscapes and such, im terrible at them, i can never find the right colors

Spooge - A little too quickie for my taste. But the light and warmth of the painting really stands out. Hehe, I guess my only critique is : more brushstrokes!

BTW: I have spotted a battle scene in your painting!



There are three sort of mages ! One of them is blowing a horn, the other is holding up a sword and the other one is lifting his hand in surprise of the attacking flying monster. Oh, and there's a giant hotdog too.

I like it, and I liked the Isolde painting, which tells me that (with these, at least) you are coming back to something more accessible than the stuff like the green Arthur or the red faced woman. I am still pretty elementary in terms of art history and education (working on it!), so your recent experiments where you are moving away from the trademark Craig Mullins cinema stuff was initially harder for me to appreciate. I mean those were obviously good paintings, but I had to sort of study them to understand them. Maybe those are more intellectual, whereas the earlier movie influenced stuff is more visceral and familiar.

Anyway, the point is these last two seem less experimental than some of the others (like the portrait of the red faced woman) - more obviously defined forms, which make it easier to read, which I interpret as more accessible.

Hrmm, mountain's nice...clouds are nice. Not a lot to say really. The trees seem rather...graphic. That's not such a bad thing, but put next to the French stylings of the clouds they pale rather(ironically the colors in the clouds are much more pale....I suppose that's sort of ironic).

I look at it abstractly, and where it isn't obviously trees, I imagine intersesting things. Like the backdrop is actually the face of a huge mountain. The foreground vertical cliff is a green liquid holding up the plateau . . . maybe if I stopped ingesting these shrooms i'd see what you guy see . . .

Maybe I should be out doing nature scenery...it obviously works for you!

I feel you had to go a direction less traveled. I like the smooth yellow/brown-olive color how it hits the hill, has a mood to it, can't discribe. I think I see a man in the bushes with is arms up. well that what I see.

spooge demon: Beautiful use of colours. Gives the piece a very warm sentiment to it. I have to say though that there is something about the composition that makes the viewer seem slightly... I dunno... uncomfortable? I think it has to do with the way that the foreground (from the reeds toward the viewer) remains slightly elusive, with not enough information for the viewer to able to decide what is actually there. There also seems to be a repetitive uniformity to the brush strokes behind the trees which is fine, but looks a bit strange.

All in all I like the pic and I'm probably not a very good critic but I think this pic would be better with just a little more detail added.

I kinda like this one mostly because I have been working on some enviroment sketches. When I am done with a few of them I will post them for all too see. I look at this and I think I am still trying to be too controling with my lines. Not as loos as this one.

my only crit is that you need something in the immediate foreground.

3-you've got a mountain in the far background
2-then you've got the trees being hit by light. ( i would like to see more detail here)
1-but nothing is going on in the foregoround.
