Hi all, I thought I should make my first post of the year one with actual art works. I like what's happened to the forum, I think it's easier now.
These are just a couple of sketches I did a month ago. I just hate scanning so I finally got around to it today.
The portraits were done from reference, each took about 30 mins. I kept in mind Freds head drawing tutorial and the rule of thirds etc.. It really helped in reconstructing the faces.
Sorry about the lined paper, it's all I could get my hands on at the time.
This was an experiment. I was inspired by Joe Mad and his illustrative style so I was testing out and incorporating his elements into my drawing (some exaggeration of form, shading techniques). The character is a nobody, just something I made up.
Any tips or comments appreciated.
Oh and if anyone else has sketch portraits they'd like to put up, feel free as it would be a great help.

Wow jason, you've improved. I remember seeing your stuff in the EARLY days of these forums. Incredible.
If I remember correctly you are quite young are you not? 15 or 16 was it? |

True Merchant: Thank you! It means a lot to hear that from someone Oh and I'm 16.
Daijoobu: I really love that second image! It reminds me a lot of Matt Le Blanc from friends. You know that guy that plays Joey? Is it meant to be anyone in particular?
And thanks hugh, I really appreciate it.

JasonN:
hehe it actually is Matt le Blanc!
I didn't thought anyone would be able to see
it.Even in the photo I used for reference
its kinda hard to tell its him
Well I guess you've got a pretty good feeling
for this sort of thing,as your portraits are
really good.

Very nice sketches! The comic girl has looooooong legs...
Should be easy to get rid of the blue lines via photoshop, no? Exclude blue channel, fix contrast. Should work... |
