another drawing exercise. this one got out of control tho, since it ballooned from a 30 minute study to a 2 hour one. oh well, i'm happy with the results and i guess thats the most important thing. i got a bit of inspiration on the lighting of the back of the hut from gecko's swamp image, so here's some credit where credit is due.

Excellent painting. It's very elegant, with the soft "shadow" like forms of the people on the horizon, and the more detailed hut, yet not ultra detailed, all done in a nice tannish palette. Very inviting. I would live there, if they had cable internet and electricity. |

That's good, jeff. What tools did you use? Correct me if I'm wrong, but that looks like an orangutan sitting in the background.

dragon: thanks a bunch! i'm trying to avoid black for a little while to develop my sense of color.
bishop6: hahahaha you're absolutely right! i guess that's who lives in the hut. makes perfect sense. to answer your question, just the paint brush and a bit of airbrushing in the sky. unfortunately when i saved to jpg, it bleached out most of the color in the sky. i may have to go back and try to fix that a bit.

Are tiki huts really really small? It doesn't look like I'd fit inside! Otherwise it's a nice image. You might try widening your pallette a little, and getting some more contrast, but nice.
