the backgrounds is awesome, as is the coloring on the women. i really like how you've achieved differences in texture on the different peices. metal skin and clothing(leather?) all look different.

my only crit would be that the anatomy seems a little off (face of the foreground woman jumps out the most), and could use a little more practice, but that is only a small detractor from a great pic.

burnOut: Thanks, and yes, the sky is ripped off from a photo. I find it really helps me, I can't (yet) paint skies to asve myself!

In pursuit of some reference to use to help me with my faces, I tracked down a few photos of none other than the Jessica Alba that you mentioned. Stay tuned (perhaps in the other "work in progress" forum) on that one...

I think half my problem is I rush out my linework because I can't wait to get to the coloring bit....and as a result the entire image suffers. Having seen some of Fred Flickstone's linework (immaculate!) I think I need to sharpen that aspect of my style a little.

i love the colouring.. but there is one thing that grabs my attention, i dont know whether its just me..
but the two planes in the sky.. and one of the clouds up to the right of the planes.. they seem too disturb each other..

Maybe its just because it looks like a big letter "Z"..

Nice stuff A! I can't get over how much your stuff reminds me of Francis's style though. I really like it. Nice colors on the figures. Pretty cool color selection.

This is cool. Anatomy looks pretty good to me. My only crit is try to remove some of the line work or lessen them. Also, dont rip from photos (unless you are copying them? then its ok!) Painting skys is not that hard.

I know of 2 ways that are pretty easy. Take a large brush and put in the basic shapes then take a smaller brush and start to build more form. Keep doing this and then use the smudge tool.

Or you can put in 2 solid colors and smudge/blend them together. Then go over with paint brush one last time to add details.

A I really like your work. I like this pic to but because of the composition it takes away from the artistic value over all. I mean with the one girl walking to the side and the other girl up close and the background having really dark values.

Milkman: You're right, the composition is off. To achieve the full effect I wanted I need to spend more time on this, adding more people to the scene. The intention was for a dark, brooding city, with the two girls going about their own business. Adding a lot more people would have been a good way to achieve that, rather than just the two there. I'm an impatient illustrator, and it shows. :/

Dives: The image is cropped right there to leave such stuff to your imagination....

the style in this pic is more cartoonic than in the biker babe pic, which doesn't appeal as much.
Anyway, I was supposed to reply about the sky thing, first I think you should mention right away if you're using photos in your images, and second shouldn't you be painting your own skies to learn to do it, and not get away by placing some photo as the background? You're missing a lot of excersice by letting yourself off easily.
