Hmm.. just found this old pic done in '95 by me and my old art teacher Frank Haddock.. if i remember correctly.. he did most of the pencils and i did the coloring... i am glad i have improved since then =)

Wow. That sure is a cooincidence.

I saw this image in a comic book, and wondered if I could use it as a reference to duplicate it (shading, colours, etc).

[edit]tr0n: did you sketch it out digitaly or did you draw it on paper and scan the outline?

your lines are a bit shaky so I guess you used the tablet. try pencil, clean lines and then scan it in and uses "adjust levels" to make the pencil 100% black. maybe this helps.

also not using black for shading will look better (of course "better" is relative to what you like and what youre heading for) on skin in most cases. you can pick a darker color or the same hue and use that to shade.
then pick one lighter than the midtone color (the one that you colored flat with before) and draw the highlights.

at least thats what you can try out and see if you like the result better or not.
