This is a little rough sketch I did and I named her "Misty" (heh heh) cus of the background I was planning, anyways shes not finished yet as you can See.....I'll post up my progress in this thread....

So far, just started painting the face/hair, skin and the clothing etc...

Did a little more work on her, legs and clothing (or lack of ) Still gotta do the gun then I'll move onto the background....added some green (with soft light airbrush) to her skin to show a bit of reflection from her bright outfit

Crits welcome!

see this is what i dont understand. look at the
gun...see how the grey blocks out all the detail?
this is where i get lost in painting...i lose all the
detail from the drawing...all the perspective of
the lines. and then i try to paint the edges back
in along with the shapes within the gun but it
gets all mooshy. the line drawing usually is good
but the painting messes up all the guide lines.

In the first and second pic, it looks like her [left] fore arm is floating in front of her arm. This is remedied in the last pic, but i wanted to point it out.

dizzypope, If you use Photoshop you can paint on a differet layer from the one with the lines. Make the painting layer above the lines layer. Then set the layer you are painting on to multiply so you can see the lines through it. Or make a copy of the layer with the drawing on it then paint on the copy so you can reference the origional.

But why are her eyes closed?
Doesn't matter at all just a question...

Yeah her arm was kinda floating so I fixed it a bit I tend to block in the gun (for example) on its own layer above(or below) then tick "preserve transparency" this auto masks it so I only paint on whats filled, then I merge it down and tidy up a bit etc....also i set the opacity to 90% so I can just see the detail in the pencil drawing

Eyes are closed for no particular reason, I just liked the look!

Howdy!
This is a very good detailed picture! I'm not in favor of stereotypical females, so generic, but I decided to point out this is a good painting based on its detail and coloring and anatomy merits anyway. The only crits I have is that mainly in the last pic the blurriness you did on the skin does not carry over to the gun. It looks hard and detailed and her skin looks glowy and blurry around the edges. And I cannot figure out how the light source of the foreground and background work together. Overall, it is a nice work though!

Yeah, I didn't spend much time on the bg and your right the light source doesn't match that well...

At one point I did have more glow/soft focus on the gun but I kinda wanted it to be crisp so erased it

I also dont like her left arm, I think its too long now I look at it.....amazing how that stuff pops out at ya when you stick it online

..anyway, thanks for checking it out and the useful crits!!!

I think the eye on the right may be up too high... Check the distances from the brows to the hairline. Also, there's a lot more color bleeding on the shoulder on the left than I would expect, given the lighting. Otherwise, looking good. The detail on the gun is very nice.
