i guess it's because the notches were made by another person's sword?

I think your still wrong, but you have a point. A hidden point. Theres somthing weird about the notches, they are brighter then the rest of the sword. which is the oppisite of what it should be. One other thing is that, if he was going for compelete accuracy (which I doubt is teh case) wouldn't there be rust on the sword since the notches wouldn't be sealed.

On a side note, by the time a sword got that many notches that deep, it'd be broken, just think about the amount of power it took to put in the notches. (Don't change that though!!)

yeah but then they wouldn't be all completely horizontal =D Considering the other person can be slashing down or up or straight at you or whatever, and you would thus have to block it the exact same way from every angle for them to be horizontal ;D

I think the right foot(our right) should be pointed more outwards, in the same direction as the leg, to make the pose more dramatic. Sorry, can't do an overpaint. Just experiment for yourself, and in time you will learn how to master poses like this. Maybe even the polykarbon tutorial could help you(probably you already read it) Good luck!

dont worry about the notches - I'm losing the sword anyway. (making a completely new one). Mind you - if you want to draw in notch ideas go for it but these feet never look right to me. I'm getting to the point where I may just draw the damn thing again!!

Aagh, Where is Spooge when you need him???

Thanks for your input guys.
