Still trying to figure out that painting style.

I made this yesterday but for some reason I don't know if I like it or not.

It's unfinished and I'd like to know your opinion on what I should do to make it more interesting and/or what's wrong with it.

thanks in advance.

well, i like it... why wouldn't you like it ?
the ground feels a bit 'wobbly', like it's built on sand or something... can't figure out if it's the lightning or geometry that does it though...
anyway, you're defenitely going in the right direction.... nice stuff.

Thats F'in nice. I like that color range, it is indeed moody. The bottom left pillar seems to be a little off maybe in relation to the others....

Looks good! To be an interesting picture though, I'm told there should be some things inside that frame that viewers can hold on to. Right now there's nothing in particular there.

A detailed artwork in the window panes(sp?)? Some dirt/damage on a coloumn? A small person standing in that left light spot, looking towards the back window? Hmm, I'm thinking story here. Depends on your use of the picture, I guess. The structure is good-lookin' btw.

On technique, did you use the wc fiter here? Sure has those edges, good anyhew, sharpness.

Very good, but I agree the building looks off. If you look at the center-most pillars, the lit one on the left is set back farther than the right one. Other little peculiarities occur as you come towards the viewer. That's a small thing however, compared to the dramatic light and mood you've captured here!

thanks alot guys

It was supposed to be a slightly 'fisheye' lense pic. Don't think i managed that.

Torstein Nordstrand, I'll see if I can come up with something, i do agree there's no real focus area in it.

I think I captured the mood somewhat I just need to fix it up

I still don't like it much tho, still haven't figured out why.

thanks again

Hey

I totally love this work you did here. Personally, I think if you just do the touch-ups suggested above, you can actually call this one a finished job. The colors, shot, and angles are great. I thought I'd put my 2-cents in, I used to photograph and documents many old churches and monestaries worldwide

The one thing new that I would suggest thinking about it something in relation to what Nordstrand said, about a focal point. But my suggestion is that it looks like you do have one...actually two. The central window, and the flood of light to the left. I think you should pick one and emphasize it: maybe darken the central window a bit, to make your eye go to the left, or vice-versa.

I could be completely off-the-wall... probably am.

Great job though!
