He is more the Ranger like character while she is captain of the guard. They will fall for one another later it the book....
For a referance this is the same elf drawn two and a lalf years ago, it was my first non-anime.

The rough draft could actually stand on it's own in my opinion. It's really well done. Although I thought that both characters were female. |

very nice, the one on the left's jaw is crooked and the one on the right looks like it has breasts, the horses ?muzzle?snout?
faces or whatever look oddly cartoonish. very good all in all
I find it strange what few things were so extremely wrong, umm, the right horses pointy thing points to his right, it's crooked

heh, yea I noticed the jaw thing early on but forgot to fix it.
I used a real horse as a reference on the left and a poser4 horse one the right, the poser horse had far less detail to go by as apposed to the left horse. |

Very cool picture. The part I like the best is the guy's pointing left arm. However, I'll also have to admit I thought they were both women. Still a good job.

for a ranger he's not very broad accross the shoulders..
and the horses still have no bits on the raines (think thats how its spelt)

Nice idea with the horses foreshadowing, I like the composition also. I won't nag on the background, as it is obvious you haven't gotten to it yet. Here's a link to a bunch of mountain shots you might find useful:

Good work so far! |

Torstein: That mountain tip was super. I spent 2 hours looking for mountains a couple of days ago and didn't find any really good sites. Tackar og buger ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

So far I think it looks great. Personally I think a more rugged Ranger would be a nice contrast to the elegance of the elf. I know this is a WIP but the values in the foliage are so nicely done that I miss it in the rest of the image. Can't wait to see it painted. |

I like what I hear so far! I really appreciate the mountain link, it WILL get used. And Im glad to see the foreshadowing was noticed. |

Took me awhile to find out that was a hood and not the ranger's hair. My suggestion is to define it into a more 3D shape and give it a hooded feel to it. I agree with the others. Nice picture ![](images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif) |
