Well I've been 'attempting' to make a fairly realistic shoe. Now, the thing is, it looks crappy. It's not finished obviously, but I don't see much point, cos the way it's going, it really isn't going to improve.
To put a slight positive slant on this post, has anyone got any tips or advice on how I could go about it differently [I'm not opposed to starting again].
A paintover would be great [It's not the right size etc for one i know]
But anything would be great.
May as well put the other one [equally bad] here as well.
Thanks |

I don't think I can really help here...
Maybe you should block in the colors first (and think if it's ok so far before you go on)
Save the different stages as you progress.
Use reference to make it look more real (not all the materials reflect light the same way).
I guess you have to find a different approach for the shading. Try to come up with a version with no shading at all that you like.
I tried an overpaint and that's why I think I can't help
Btw. (I know that goes for my version too...) the shoelaces wouldn't work that way |

You never used to tie your shoelaces that way when you were a kid? Did that for a couple months until i realized it wasn't worth the effort. works fine though. |

the top is way to high on both, (even if they are basket ball shoes) what you might want to do
is get a picture of a human foot and draw the shoe around it. (for reference on shape) |
