hello
I'm looking for feedback on the concept for my future homepage, I'd like to know how the purpose for the website comes accross

here's the background..
I'm having a sabbatical year or two during which I will work to improve my drawing & painting skills. Interestingly I've been mostly programming for the last 10 years, I wanted to create games, eventually I got a job as game programmer for 2 years in UK. To cut a long story short, I feel I'm somehow done with programming, at least for now, and am Now focusing on my creative side..

as you can see on the pic, it will be split mainly in 3 sections
- the past, part of what was my 'demoreel', includes programming & graphics
- the present
- the future ? where I will share my experiences and build an artwork portfolio over time

hopefully it will be updated every week or so with new material (we heard that before.. )

some things I tried to get accross:
- the past includes both PROGRAMMING & GRAPHICS , oldschool type graphics, you know pixel art.. Deluxe Paint .. hence the code listing and the 'sprites'
- the 'future?' thing suggests I'm looking into a new direction, and thats what the website is primarily about

let me know what you think

PS: since you cant see the links on this pic, here's the explanation: there are menus under each section that allow direct jump to the topic.. and also give an idea of the contents,
-clicking the past pic leads to a subpage index of the past stuff
-clicking the present pic leads to a subpage index of the present stuff
-clicking the future pic jumps directly to the 'featured' picture, which will be updated every now and again..

Thanks (merci! , aye I was trying for some minimal design & pixels.. but I used also some handwriting to suggest there'd be more than 'oldschool' on the site.

Please check this out :

http://web.wanadoo.be/def46/homepage.html

Click 'past' section for a right sided page layout
Click 'future' section for a left sided page layout

(they are both just gifs, click once again to come back)

I have a hard time to make up my mind, what do you like best, LEFT or RIGHT sided ?

Thanks for the help
Crits on color/ composition are welcome
