This post is probably a rehash of some of the other posts but I had to get this out of me.
People have been complaining about flamers, that they are disruptive. Can't agree with you more, but instead of complaining and replying their posts just ignore them. That's at least my intention from now on. Flamers want attention and they do anything to get it.
An active moderation could help it but we can't expect Dhabih, Sumaleth and Enayla to be our parents, to slap us when we do something wrong and give us a lollipop when we do something good. As we are all adults we should be able to act in the appropriate manner. If there are any bitterness between members I think it would help if they would use e-mail or any other messenger service to solve their differences. I am unable to see the reason to let the world join in a feud.
We shouldn't add wood to the flames by replying but withhold it for some more productive posts.
I am not trying to say that people should kill the random musings(as most flame wars are sprouting there), as I had some interesting and enjoyable debates in "Bush is an asswipe" post. We can enjoy debates without the bloodshed.
It has also come to my attention the arguement about the lumental forums. I do understand Faust's anger and frustration towards it as I myself feel like a bug as I know in my heart that I ain't an elite. If they like being there than it's their right to be there and talk(write). I think it's no different to this forum except perhaps the size. I have been here for exactly one year and 3 months and I have seen how huge Sijun has become over a short time. I also understand some of the elites frustration of hearing the same praises again and again. Even though they are the top of the top, they are human. They are probably trying to get answers just like the rest of us, answers to their artwork, how it could be made better. They have heard the words "awesome!","It's Great!" and "You are the best!" before. I also suspect that some members are replying only to get attention so the masters might reply to their own posts. Instead of bitching about the lumental forum let's try to make this one better, in other words, get our acts together. This is a great place and I will visit it for the next years to come, because looking at other ambitious people makes me more ambitious. I even think that most of the new members are trying to get their own bearings, to know what is up and what is down.
Bottom line:
Ignore flamers, it's our weapons against them. We are seeing people leave because of these flamers. A truly sad thing.
Ignore lumental unless you want to join them. We won't gain anything by bitching about them it will only create feuds that can tear people apart.
Let's just do our best without care about the rest.
(Damn that was long and I am getting all mushy mushy here. Better slap Terminator into my DVD.)

People don't flame to flame. They flame, because they want to tell about their anger about something/someone. Flaming is no sport
If you want to keep people from flaming, make the world a better place. |

This forum needs more active moderation and clearer rules. Not to make it some kind of super controlled enviroment but to make it more endurable. And i WISH people would treat each other more like equals rather than sucking up/looking down on one another. But that's just pushing the reality of human behaviour. |

S4Sb: to appease to each and everyone is not simple and I know that. I wish I could make the world a better place and in with my own miniscule power I try to affect and help those around me. Perhaps it doesn't amount to much but at least it's better than doing nothing. |

We need more active moderation indeed.
I hope you realise that there are three moderators on gods know how many posters... and Dhabih isn't exactly active. I do what I can, but I can't spend every waking hour on the board - as often as not, I arrive too late because I'm on a different time schedule.
Eh, anyway... I need to get some sleep again. |

I do understand that it's ridiculously hard for you (two) moderators to check every thread constantly. The logical solution would be more (not loads of them but two, three maybe) mods in different timezones.
Clearer rules and guidlines written so everyone can see them would probably stop the flood of recurring threads. Rules and advice of what to post in the specific forums so we see less annoying subjects and people actually giving constructive criticism.
Banning spoofed accounts and bad behaving peoples ip's would also calm things down.
Maybe these suggestions are painfully obvious but I just want to save this forum that once were such a nice place. :/
AND why the hell are everyone upset about the l33t people having their own forum?
It's pathetic really.
Blah, trtt...sova. |

It's like London is burning down again, there are so many flames.
We need more moderators but they can't be picked randomly. Seems Enayla is watching the Europe time and probably like the rest of us, she has a job, so she can't watch over it 24/7 (everybody needs at least 8 hours sleep, at least I do.)
Reading Faust's post(now over 124 replies and counting) I am a little sad and hurt about some various comments members made to each other. Especially Visigoth's response to Faust. Where he voiced his opinion on the rest of us.
Some of Gux's suggestions sound promising, especially about preventing spoofed accounts and ban certain IP's that do nothing but send vile and destructive data
Can't we just get all along? I myself am thinking of ignoring the whole random musing section for a while, as I would probably find some more interesting things in the other areas like the WIP,DAD and finished sections. |

it often takes a hefty backstab to find out peoples' true views and thoughts on things. |

It was bound to happen in a art community like this. I hope it turns out for the better. |
