I have a UMAX Astra 610p scanner and I have had it for a little over a year. It had worked fine, but lately (last month) whenever I scan in color about 1-1 half inch of each side is yellow tinted. As you can see on the left of this picture. It isn't on the right because I didn't scan that far over.
The problem has nothing to do with the hue or tint or any of those settings, cuz I've flirted with all them already. And nothing is wrong when scanning in black and white. I tried opening it up and cleaning the skinny light bulb, and cleaning the glass, nothing works.
How can I get that yellow tint to stop appearing when I scan???
Anyone have any ideas or ever have this problem before? Please help.
Thanks

Your scanner is what we technical people call a P.O.S
I reccomend finding the dumbest person you know and selling it to them. Then buy a new one.
If this one does not work well either, please bomb your local retailer. |

Without knowing more I'd say your scanner was crapping out. It looks as if the blue phase of your scanner light is no longer in sync or no longer illuminates that side of the scan bed. The fix could be as simple as replacing the lamp. Of course, depending on the brand, this can be more expensive than purchasing a new scanner. It may be that the drive mechanism is slightly out of synch, which is a far more serious problem.
Is the scanner still under warranty?

Gnome, thanks for the reply it was funny as hell. I think it may be a P.O.S.
Pat thanks for the reply as well. I tried to see if the light had become unravelled or something, thus causing illumination problem, but things looked alright. Think I should just get rid of it then?
I was wondering if I should just stick to black and white medium simply cuz they have no problems scanning. LOL. Damn scanner.
Anyone else have suggestions?
Thanks
