A long time ago,
In a thread far far away...
I posted some image I was working on and trying to figure out why I could never finish anything. If you want to look back on it it can be found here.
I'm finally getting back to it now because I said I would finish it, and damnit, I am going to. Here is the progress as of last night:
Still a bunch of things to add, replace and/or change. Feel free to tell me the things you would change as well. It is still WIP afterall. |

The shoes look extreemly "thin"
This looks like a charakter for battle but the shoes don't look like they're made for such operations...
( but that's just me ) |

Thanks for the comment Monolith. It is something I was wrestling with for a while.
Those not familiar with Warhammer 40k Battle Sisters might not know that they wear power armor and it probably should be represented as a little beefier then how I drew this one. But there isn't much artwork out there that I could find on Battle Sisters. Some of them are really good, but there have been some (notably in the previous Sisters of Battle army book, interior b&W illustrations) that just don't look that good. They drew them like scary looking men and cheesy Madonna concert style looking armor and such.
I love the design of the armor but I wanted to represent it in a more sleek and sexy fashion I guess. Thus the idealized thin waist is present dispite the fact that it is supposed to be bulkier then that. And I wanted the legs to look distintively female.
Eventually I'll come up with a good compromise between looking fashionably female and being bulky battle armor.
The finished version is here.
Thanks to everyone who has commented on this past and present. Hopefully I can take the suggestions I wasn't able to work into this one and use it for my next pic. |

Matt Wilson needs to do more sister pics. And don't make me bust out the cover art John Blanche did...
I think this is the closest I got with a heaftier look to the armor:
My next 40k fan art will be something a bit more complicated methinks. Several sisters with some heavy weapons and probably an immolator with a background and all that happy stuff. Color too. Maybe by December. ![](images/smiles/icon_wink.gif) |
