This is a sketch of a trance single cover I'm working on.
I've never done anything like this before, so any kind of help is appreciated (art comments or motive ideas).

I think it looks really cool. Love the colors and the mood. Very dynamic and satisfying. It looks like that's intended to be a head? If so, I would definitely add some more highlights and definition to it to clarify what it's supposed to be. I only realized it was a head after noticing what appeared to be a nose after a minute or so of look at the picture. I'd say you're definitely on the right track, but it needs more lighting and definition to make it identifiable. Don't overdo it or it will ruin the effect, but just enough to make it recognizable as a head. |

I'm trying to achieve a mystic feel or maybe a drugged feeling so to speak (not showing in this example). But I'm getting nowhere.
and yes it's a head I've been having some trouble with my screen. The light and contrast setup are apparently f****ed up..
Thxs for the tip though, very helpful.
I'll try to improve the highlights.
This ones a bit to bright for my computer:

the first image has a better concept of the image projecting from the persons mind
and the third image has a better rendered face
put those two together, get some other colours going on, perhaps complimentary ones and your in business |

Well, these are really cool, all of them. However, I like the first one best. Now just keep in mind, if 20 post here, you'll get 20 unique and justifiable opinions, and that does not make your job any easier. Also, everybodies monitor (and opinion) is different, and the only monitor(and opinion) you should worry about is yourCLIENT'S!!!
However, I'll toss in my $.02, its not worth that much, but, hey, its an expression...I would use the first image, and just bring in a second light source, perhaps a slightly warm color, and shifted slightly to one side or the other. Perhaps that would help define the face, while maintaining the "aloofness" (*ahem* or insert preferred fine art term) you desire Hope that helps, and the concept is very cool! Rock on! |

Mangled Alecto: I've tried to do the adjustments... Maybe I could add some more color though.
Anything I could do arround the head to improve the drawing even more? If anyone wants to do a paintover to show me what you mean, your more the welcome!
cptoonz:
It's a great idea! I'll give it a shot.
Your right about the opinios, there's a Swedish saying that goes: "Taste is like asses: Divided."

Never mind the cyborg thingies.. It's just so boring showing practicly the same image all the time.
I tried to add a second light source.. Don't now if I succeded. I'm light on the pencil, maybe a bit afraid of changes aswell
Comments still welcome

hmm, i might not be the best person to ask, but i think it'd look neat with a mandala type thinger on the forehead, such as below.
it's justa quick paintover and it sucks plus the mandala isn't mine, it's just a quick find to illustrate my idea. ignore the blip, stupid photoshop LE lacking history and me being lazy.
