need some help with a portrait... some specific things mostly:
-I know the eyes and the teeth shouldent be perfectly white, but how do I do it any other way and not make her look dirty?
-is everything in matching in what would make a human a human?
-any general style comments
-what do I do for the background!?!
thanks!

edit: because I have crappy luck with images posted here, I'm gonna give you a link to an html page so I know it works:

It is looking good. I took a quick look and the perportions look like they are correct. As for the teeth rather then just using black as a way of forming them try a really dark red and some yellow for the bright spots.(do it on another layer don't know if it will work) The hair and white background is distracting from the face right now. You may also need some brighter hightlights. |

Try making the eyeballs rounder and try suggesting the overall shape of the teeth / mouth more instead of detailing in every tooth.
Also you should try getting some different skin tones in the different areas of her face. The human skin has more than just one color.
Here's an attempt at helping you out a little... See what I mean?

Thank you very much for your suggestions and expecially your paintover, They are very helpful. I'll find some time tonight to grill on it with these ideas in mind and see if I can get it up here for you to see. I'll continue drilling my brain for background ideas, I suppose thats more of an artist's decision rather then technique.
I am constantly amazed at what can be learned by asking for advice on this fourm.
any more suggestions are very much welcome. |
