I am working on a female warrior for a project of mine. I am hoping you guys can give me some helpful hints on how to keep my warrior female from turning into a warrior slut. Meaning I would like to have some help with armor. I have never drawn or painted armor and would like some serious thoughts. Also if you had any ideas for pose or background please feel free. I am very open to criticism and change.

I would like tough armor...*note muscles* but I would also like to show off stomach and possible cleavage...Thanks in advance.

Welcome aboard.
Let me first say what a stunning sketch you
have going already. Really.
As for armor... that is a broad question. I am assuming that you are refuring to the Fantasy relm of armer. One that is most popular in modren paintings/illustrations. While much of the time we see men draped with metallic heavy pains of steel, the females have a tendency to have much less metal and more thick leather, mixed in with some chainlink. I believe that this has to do with the public wanting to see more of the curves of a woman. This like you said could be slutty or with taste. When planning this I would say use alot of leather, show stuff but keep it to a min. Use some chain link, because it can look protective with out too much visual weight. Steel sholder pads and chest plates are like a necessity. Leather wrist band would also be a must. I think she should look like a mideval knight that is only half way suited up.

I hope that helps.
JA

Hey Thanks a lot Basement Bound & NeFF. It is always a little nerve wracking doing your first post. No one wants to be that guy that keeps posting with no replys.

As for armor I think you nailed it Basement Bound. My thoughts exactly on your ideas for armor. In fact tonight will be my attempts at overlaying some in Photoshop until I am satisfied enough tto actually put them on paper. Speaking of which...

If you guys want to take my picture and do quick sketchy lines of where armor should go in your mind...please feel free. It might help a lot.

Thanks again.

A suggestionf or your armor:

...With optional chain mail over her belly. The greys are chain mail, brown is leather, light grey is possible metal greaves of some sort. I can't really see a feminine looking warrior character in anything but leather/mail, myself.

just wanna say, that's a real nice sketch... as for armor suggestions, i just thought of that awful joan of arc movie with milla jojovich... she had some form of platemail, if i remember correctly, that was still somewhat formfitting, so she didn't look like an underdeveloped barbarian... just a thought...
