Hell YEAH!!! Now this is a thread!!
Damn good work!
The sketch is solid. I have to say it's cleaner then most sketchs. Inkers and colorist's love working with a clean sketch, hehehe.
Your first painting. --- Awesome water color effect you have going. I love how you kept the black lines. Really nice use of colors. You set an incredible atmosphere.
Your second painting... ---- I love where your going with this painting. my only crit would be to add more dramatic lighting to this scene. I say this cuase your using a lot of earth tone colors and things seem to blend together easily... I say go a little crazy with the light and dark colors.
Ok now for the good stuff...
Man the 2nd detail study just rocks. I love the dwarfs face. You really captured the rugedness of the dwarf. The lines you add to his face tells a story. I can tell this dwarf has seen many a battles and has dug many a tunnels in his time. I cant wait to see this piece finished.
Thanks for posting your progress not many pro's on this forum go through the trouble and I for one would like to thank you.
cheers,
- Shawn |

Sketch is great.
I wont comment on the "painting" until it is finished.
But, some ideas on composition. This is a very "heavy piece".
I wont know much about the composition until it is finished but consider adding a counter balance (would love to see a horse or something) for the composition.
Also consider opening up the top of the canvas (expanding it).
.. as right now it feels "crunched" unless you are going for that feel (and I dont think you are). |

first of it is awesome! i love the look keep that high detailed painted look it looks sweet!
the balance is strong to the right where the charecters are.
the clouds could help you a bit though and to bring attention to the whole peice hehe
just make a break in the clouds that looks dramatic with light going doing from it.. or something that brings some attention to the right... a horse is not the best way since dwarfs are small and well horses in real life would be very big for them maybe some trees or a mountains in the right side.. |

Wow, love this piece, it's amazing. One thing bothers me though, everything is so refined and beautiful except the left(viewer's right) eye of the dwarf that is standing up. Have you just not finished this part yet?
I love this piece and hope to see the finished version of it. Frnkly your textures are amazing, these dwarves look really haggard and battle worn.
Love everything but the eye. |

I really enjoy the sharp details. I always find it difficult to pull those off.
Awesome work. |
