This is a concept/painting of a knight (I call it a Centurion). I've been working on this painting from time to time.

The definition of the Centurion goes as follows:

1> White bald evil looking head (think Borg).
2> Heavy black armour (partly merged with the body) with collar covering the neck and jaw.
3> Scythes on the back.
4> Here's a picture from 97/98 > http://www.itchstudios.com/psg/dgate/oldcenturion.jpg

Selfcrits about the pic:
> An A4 paper is too small to do any real details.
> The Background has too much contrast in the brushstrokes. It needs some smooth gradients (hard to do with acrylics though).
> The yellow at the top left corner doesn't match the other yellows.
> I'd like the BG to be more stained and pseudo detailed, a bit like Craig's stuff.
> The window/arcs needs some kind of ornaments, that would be nice.
> The scythe edge highlight is bad, and perhaps the one behind the head should reflect the yellow light (specular) since it's probably turned in that direction.
> The white flare on the rock is distracting.
> The blue light on the ground bottom right is too intense.
> The head does not look white/pale.

Here's the sketch I cropped and printed out, then I inked and painted directly onto the A4 printout. http://www.itchstudios.com/psg/dgate/random1.gif

And here's an early version of the painting. I washed it over with dark brown since the armour was too bright. [URL=http://www.itchstudios.com/psg/dgate/centurion_early.jpg]

whoah man, i don't have any crits.. because that looks awesome right now.. hmm but can you maybe make the resolution a bit higher and the picture a bit bigger... as you said, the paper probably is too small for small details, but eh i just want to see a larger version anyway =)

Beautiful work. You should post a bigger pic of it. It's a shame to not be able to see more detail.

And here I thought I was always too hard on myself.

Great piece, hope you'll find it more to your liking when it's finished

D>...

Beo> The Magic art has got a lot batter lately. I played some when IceAge came out, and the art then was kinda boring.

Bell> I never get that many replies. THe scythes are more like blades, but they have little practical use. I just put them there instead of wings, which is an archetype.

T> Thanks.

MX> Jag nskar att jag kunde vara lika entusiastisk ver mina grejer sjlv. Fast njd blir man vl aldrig?

Dry> Yeah, I know it's a bit small, but it's only A4 size and I worked with a large brush so if I make it larger it will look ugly.

Luna> Actually there is not much more detail to be seen.

Sha> I'm not hard on myself, I'm just.. what do you call it? Objective?
