(Edit: Some newer versions of one of the Bettie pictures in a later post)
(Edit: And some versions of the Anna picture)

I'm trying to better my weaker points.
I have never drawn enough ladies, and... well one can never draw enough Clint Eastwood.
I will also use some of these further, to try out styles and techniques that I'm not experienced in (Which includes at least: Digital painting, cartoony stuff, iconic stuff, photorealism, poster type stuff, and probably lots more).

But I don't quite know what I wanna do and how...

... so...

... If you happen to see anything you like(or something you dislike for that matter), and POP! you suddenly know how that image would look cool, then just shout it out.
Also feel free to, well, come with any other suggestions you want. Anything. Whatever.

(Just have fun).

Pretty please with sugar on top?

Anyhow... All sketches done from reference:

Clint

Oh Bettie

Betties Behind

Ahh Bettie

Some of Anna Nicole

(Edit: Censured away one image... it was just sloppy and kinky and really uninteresting)

I'm doing these for fun and to learn something, so I'm gonna do some more sketches whenever I have the time, and try to make finished pics out of some of them.
Byt the way, this won't just be a "Clint and purdy ladies" thread.
I'd really, greatly appreciate any help or comments or slaughter that you may have.

Ouch... Now the sun's coming up... gotta get some sleep.

Started an attempt at making a "digital painting" thingie out of one of the Bettie pictures. Roughly 1 hour of work:

Paint?

I've never done an "digital painting" before... so all I help I can get will be greatly appreciated.

Basse - I would go back and use the search function and find the threads that Pro helped on, I think you would find them very benifical. It is hard to get values correct the way that you have started. I would first lay down all of the flat colours first then carry on from there.

I agree, i'd first paint all the areas with a base color.. just make a layer using multiply and paint over the original sketch... then continue with the shadings and highlights...

Not my thread, but a question: Should the base colour be somewhere in-between the shadow and highlight shades? Or personal preference?

An update... Tried to find those threads you talked about, but didn't quite have enough info to find them...

Anyhow... have been skimming through some tutorials, and messing around with my picture. Reshaping the body, and messing around with proportions and colors. I haven't added any details yet, and those that are there are just placeholders(Eyes, mouth, nostrils).

Bettie the Dwarf

I think I'm about halfway finished with it, but if I know myself correctly, I'm really just about 20% finished. Lot's of time to fuck it up even more than now.

(Edit: Ohhh... I seem to have messed up the proportions while saving the file... aw... what the heck)

Newer version.... started to add some details(hand), but most details are still just placeholders. Fixed some proportions, and added some shadows. And, I actually managed to save it without fucking up the size like the last time...(See above... That's Betty the Dwarf)...

i know, this is only a work in progress pic and probably still far from being finished. but:

- the eyes are way too flat. i think you outlined them too much. here's an illustration from artclass that might help:

try to remember that there are round eyeballs beneith the lids... wasn't there a tutorial on that subject somewhere 'round here? i dunno...
- her mouth & fingernails look too focused compared to the blurry shading you did. same applies to the whole outline of her body.
- i really like the shading you did on her fingers!

[edit 1] eek. i didn't see that you already commented on many details still being placeholders.... sorry!
hope my comments don't sound to bumptious...

All of the details, including the eyes, are just placeholders... Actually there is no eyes... It's only one eye, copied and flipped...heh...

Normally I do something closer to the illustration... only in a much sloppier manner... But it's a jolly nice illustration of how the eye works, and I've saved it and I'm gonna use it as reference for this one.

I've done lots of drawing from anatomy books, also of eyes, but it's always nice to freshen up a bit, especially when it's such nice eyes.

Thanks alot for the illustration and for taking the time!

Aww... thanks alot!

Those are nice... I think I saw that old man one on a website sometime ago.

Well, it's a bit too late for this one, but I'll try it the next time. I don't have a wacom board, so doing it from scratch will probably be a bit hard, so I'll probably use my pencil sketches for that one to, but just paint on top of it, instead of trying to use the actual pencils.

Thick stripes or thin stripes?

Thick stripes

Also... I notice that the eyes are a bit off, or a bit cross eyed(Don't know which)... does it matter or, well... is it just a part of the charm\characterisation?

I did an little work on one of the Anna Nicole sketches. Think it's about finished now.

Anna

Probably gonna post it in another thread in finished works also. Just have to wait a little bit and see if I've missed some glaring errors.

to get a more warhol-like effect, you should try dots... but this is interesting, too. kinda hurts my eyes tho...

You need to vary the strength and width of those lines !!!

they are too mechanical... some highlight would be nice.

otherwise some nice work

Here's some dots:

I don't think I like this one. I'll probably clean up the first a little and post it in the finished gallery.

And by the way, Illuminat...

...I think you mean Lichtenstein, not Warhol.
Lichtenstein is the one with the overblown comics images, with lot's of dots.
Warhol is the one with the soup cans and Marilyn Monroe's. He did use dots or halftones in some of his pictures, but that's mostly in his overblown newspaper clippings, like "The Electric Chair". But it really is Lichtenstein that's known for the dots.

Thanks for the help, guys.

Did a re-inking in a smoother style. Same brush, just different way of using it. Fixed the eyes somewhat(I hope). It's getting more and more Lichtensteinish somehow....

Slick Anna

Illuminat: Perhaps I should try some bright flat colors, then... Warhol's fun.

Light: Which lines? The mechanical ones now replaced by dots? Well, they are mechanical.
If that's not the lines you mean, then I frankly don't get it...
Highlight? Possibly if I do some more colored versions, but on this one I wanna keep it nice and flat grey, like in the reference.

Thanks for the comments.

i like that one . her hair is looking great. rrrrr! there's something about the background... it doesn't quite fit imho. i really can't tell how to fix it tho... maybe you should try something more geometric (aw... i really dunno...).
