cant figure out what to put in the sky, ive tried jets and stuff but it doesnt look all that interesting, any ideas?

well you could try a moon- the kind you get on a sunny cloudless day? If this isnt on 'earth' it could be neighbouring planet, and doesnt have to be a blue sky either.
Is this going to be a book jacket/ magazine cover? the composistion is good for one - in which case you need to think about titles which will go over the sky anyway.
Im thinking its just a personal work. Sometimes keeping it bare is still cool, coz that way you dont distract the eye from the main character.
I am wondering if the character has crashed landed or just landed? is she stranded etc. etc. you could put some clues in the back ground

a crash landing, the crater is perfect for something like that, and it also explains why shes holding a helmet and why shes looking around.
