sketched this guy at school today...
i want to color him in, but i've never colored an underwater scene before and i don't really even know where to start... anyone able to give any tips? i'm gunna post this at eatpoo too i think

by the way, if ya want to do a quick color-in for me, i'd love it.... heres a link to a bigger version cause it gets pretty detailed :P
big version (250k)

they are born in massive numbers, 1000s at a time... but they are very small at birth, and out of each litter, only 2 or 3 are able to avoid predators unill they hit puberty... at puberty they grow long horns on thier nose, and actually start to feed on the same kind of predators that ate thier kin in childhood. the ones that are able to survive adolesents become ferosious predators, grow as large as 40 feet long. the males grow manes on thier backs, which look a little like seaweed. they use this desguis to hide along the sea floor and suprise-attack large underwatter food like sharks, giant squid and even large wales. they fight solo, not is groups. they live for as long as 50-75 years, but only feed once ever few months. with thier years of experiance, the adults climb from the bottom of the underwater foodchain to the top after puberty. if confronted by a 15-60 year old male, the prey has little to know chance of surviving, because of the fish's amazing skill in combat. each fish will only breed once in thier life, and as i said they have thousands of offspring, but not many to none will survive youth.

WOW! That's one gawd-damn'd freaky fish!

I can't give you any real coloring tips since I'm... ehem... not really experienced with coloring... but... well... that's a helluva fish you got there!

Very cool.

I had the same problem ages ago. I dont know how you can find posts that I made ages ago. My previous name was "jolyon" I lost my password and changed e-mail addresses so I was fucked so now I have had to change again. Try and find a post that says something about a fish underwater. I did some more paints of it and it came out great. From what I remember, there are no specular highlights underwater, it all diffuses. It looks as if there is some sort of fog the further away an object is. Hmm thats about all I rememeber and also colours are very different underwater too... not very much help, but if you can find that thread youll be in luck!
