This is the only work uploaded on net that i can post in here, so what the hey...
It was a sketch i did (on paper with lead pencil.....is that allowed in here? hehe!) then i just cleaned it up a bit (background etc) in photoshop.
Nothing very special, but i'd like to get some feedback from all the insanely talented people here...

Weird, but I really like it! It is extremely clean, though! ^____^
Of course pencil is allowed here (as far as it has got a display or some electronic equipment ^^). |

Quick attempt to give it some color...
Don't like it too much, post it anyway... .
If you mind me coloring it, let me know and I'll delete it.

Hey i love the colour!! Especially on her face.......the lighting effect looks bloody awesome!
Everyone said i should colour it, but i couldn't really be bothered - all that loading selections in PS and what not...ugh! And i'd have to do it with a mouse...(excuses excuses).
Actually, the sketch was just me sitting down and just scribbling basically, it wasn't actually meant to turn out to be anything special...but my friend who runs SODA (students of design association) said i should make it into a cover, that's why it says soda That's also why it's so clean, before i took it to PS it had all those beautiful scribbly pencil lines around it etc...smudged background. Shoulda posted that version instead i guess...
Anyway, thanks so much for your feedback! (did i mention i love it here?! hahah). If anyone else wants to have a play with it i don't mind at all...
cheers! |

This is really cool.
Even if it's with a mouse... you should color it! I think you've made it hard on yourself by drawing so precisely, because this warrants a very tight and neat style of coloring! It's worth a shot though. Maybe you can "cheat" a little and build up starting from Apollo's coloring as a base? |

Hmmm, I'm glad you like it...
Don't be afraid, to give it a shot, using a mouse, because that's what I was using... .
One day I'll buy me one of these cool tablets...
Just use enough layers and set ur black-white picture's settings to "multiply" so your pencil lines don't fade away...
Helped me a lot, when somebody finally showed me that trick... |

I really like this. It taps into a very secluded part of my brain. Now if only you gave it some dramatic lighting and some photo-realistic colors and shade, then that would really throw me for a loop. |

Heh, someone said it would make a nice tattoo....
anyway, i'm kinda gonna use that theme (weird shit coming out of a head) for my self portraits for my illustration class.
We have to do three self portraits each representing a side of our personality. So i'm going to do my dark, my fun/cheeky side and my good/imaginative side.
The way i'm going to communicate the personalities is obviously through colour (black and reds and whites for the dark, bright yellows and soft, warm colours for the cheeky/fun side, then whites and cool blues for the good/imaginative), and have my face with surrealistic shit coming out of the back of my head Was thinking black/dark red roses, bats etc with a pasty pale white face and lips..maybe red eyes (or keep my green eyes consistant in each) for the dark portrait, me pulling a cheesy grin with daisies for hair for the second and the third was thinking soft white wings/feathers..white roses..etc etc for the third.
These ones will be a lot more realistic than this one...and..guess what...fully digitally rendered! woo!
so i'll definately post those and get your valuable feedback Any suggestions for now? I'll def need help with lighting effects..i suck at lighting |

personally i think it looks better b/w than it would in color. i could be wrong, but it has such a pristine feel to it, so intricate, that black and white feels... right. has a feel like the illustrations on the new bjrk cd's, with thin, clean, intricate lines. and the design elements around it, simple as they are, are fantastic. the attention to detail is marvelous. i can't say enough good things about it... keep it in b/w |

oh my! thankyou so much
and i think i agree, i gave it a go last night (colouring it)...and then i thought...no wait...
The drawing has no depth to it, it's just a flat 2d line drawing really, a little bit of shading in parts...
but...colouring it...no it's just wrong...it works well flat. Like you said, clean black and white.
If i'm going to render anything the sketch needs to have depth in it....and this doesn't.
ooo so glad you like
cheers! |

scylla : yeah, I thought that, too after I had colored it.
Looks just better without the color... |
