Hey all, this is a rough sketch for a character I am going to use in an upcoming project. This is the first draft so nothing is set in stone so I would love to hear any feedback you have about the design, proportions, costume ar anything else that comes to mind. Sorry it is so light but it is just a rough and I plan on doing a final version from this after I fix any problems
thanks. |

I took the liberty to paint some on the image.
The legs are somewhat to long and I scaled thoose down. The hip could be more defined, and the feet aren't looking like they are standing on a ground.
The rope cuts more into the arm and hand...
well, this is only some overall suggestions, feel free to comment back, I would like to see the final image

cool, thanks I will definitely look into them points. I like the extra weight you've given at the hips, I will try and incorporate that. After I posted yesterday I inked the pic to see how it would come out, but this is still a first draft so I am going to re-draw it taking on board all the comments made, so thank you for the crit |

Oh my gosch, I love it dude!
The little things loftamannen critisized would be good to be changed, but aren't necessary in my opinion.
Damn, it's really cool.
A question : what is the height of the image..., I mean, the original height, how it is lying in front of you?
I think one of my big mistakes is that I'm working in skales that are too small.
So I always get problems when it comes to faces, eyes and lips... |

thanks, I am going to make some changes though, I got an excellent crit from feeb at the eatpoo forums, so I have some changes I want to make anyway
I usually just draw on whatever paper I can find lying around, so this is just on an a4 sheet of copy paper. from feet to the top of his head I would say it's probably about 25cm. |

yeah, planning helps, I usually do a couple of pages of sketches before doing a more 'finished' pic.
your stuff looks good, you got some ideas, but need to spend a bit of time looking at anatomy (not that I know it all). Also try using sharper angular lines, you're drawings seem very 'bubbly' in the line work. |

Yeah, I know...
Most of the bumbs come form scanning, working on it in photoshop, printing, changing, rescanning and things like that.
It still takes me a looooong time to get dome with own stuff.
I can copy characters by artists like feng in 15-20 minutes freehand and get something that looks good [I do that for practice and normally throw them away after I'm done and experienced different ways of anatomy and stuff], but when it comes to own things I still have to fight big battles, if you know what I mean...
Well I have improoved a lot already, what makes me feel positive...
thanks for the comment...back to YOUR work |

Bastion,
I think your design is pretty nice. Although the legs are longer than they might be in reality, I think it would be a fine stylistic decision to keep them long. Your character (and his choice of weapon/toy) seems to suggest some sort of stealthy agility which I think is well complemented by the slightly exaggerated leg length...
In any case, the arm length is also a little longer than usual. It seems like his hands could reach his knees, when in reality they usually come down to the halfway point on the thigh. Again, I feel that "fixing" this is merely a stylistic choice and it's fine either way. (though if you choose to shorten the legs I think you might want to consider shortening the arms as well)
His overall demeanor and choice of dress (the buckles! nice buckles!) remind me a little bit of Voldo from Soul Edge / Calibur / Blade whatever he's in.
Out of curiosity, did you draw the leg outline just one-off like that in one stroke? |

thanks for the crit I did intend for his limbs to be exaggerated but I wasn't sure if I overdid it. I might tone them down a touch, but still longer than average as he isn't human and is very agile/stealthy.
I didn't notice the similarity, but now you mention it it does look a bit like Voldo! I am going to change his costume a bit anyway, so I'll make sure the next version is a bit more unique.
As for the leg, no. I had some of the details roughly sketched out but just did the outline in the final version. |

Cool image, although I do agree on a few of the points that the limbs are a little big. |
