there are many tuts and ways out there i thing polykarbon has one...

but what i do is use brightness/contrast and bring the brightness up till all the smudges are off but line work is still visible, even though if its faded, then i duplicate the layer and change the layer type from normal to multiply...hope this helps..nice art by the way

if in Photoshop, try this....

1) CTRL+M (curves)
2) you will see 3 small eyedroppers in the lower right....one is full of white paint, one with grey, and one with black.

click on the black one. then select a chunk of line or solid that you want black.

then click on the white eyedropper. select any noise or smudges (you have some in the right side near the dragon). keep selecting any noise you notice.

this will give you a good baseline to start "bending" you curves. 90% of the time my curve looks like a "S". click "OK" when you get the results you want.

3) double-click on the layer if it says "background". this will make it into its own layer, as opposed to a bg.

4) change the blending mode to multiply. this will make whites "transparent" and preserve your black lines.

5) create a new layer underneath the line art. color on this one.

ENJOY if you have questions feel free to email me. [email protected]
