Three (=all) of my previous 3d short films failed because of technical problems, I hope this one doesn't. I finally want to test my animating and directing skills (so this film's technical complexity is less than 10 % of my previous attempts) and if this fails I'm gonna cut my hand off 
Okie dokie, here we go...
The concept drawings,
The character: (the guy in the middle is the final design)
A fast paint job for the environment:
By tomorrow I should have something interesting to show.... and will talk of the cliche plot... .. .

I spent all day searching references and it went very well, I found many great images. Even got some time to do a storyboard and think through the plot.
The storyboard:
A few words about the plot:
A guy wakes up on a planet and after a while he finds out that things are much worse than it seemed first, that it's not a planet, it's the Moon.. and like everybody knows moon is an lonely place to be... I don't want to spoil the rest of story  remember this is a short film we're talking about so the story isn't long... |

I like that concept.
If he's mad the nostrils could glow red or if smelling something ugly they could turn green... |

About the story...
I was looking at the image you posted and thought that maybee the earth should have disco sound coming from, like there was a party on earth and he just missed it...
The earth could also bounce a little as if it was connected to a loudspeaker... |
