Is it his nose? is it his eyes? WHY does this guy look like someone kicked him on the face REALLY hard?

I compared this to my early pictures and boy .. I've improved a lot.. A year or two and hopefully I'll be REALLY good

it looks good! i like how you're shading it.

just a couple of problems -- i did a quick line-over to show what i mean.
the reason his face looks 'smashed' is because his nose doesn't stick out enough. also, his right eye is too high.. it's got to go down a little, and his ear is a bit too small.
just pay attention to proportions and structure and you'll get there! hope this helps you out.

btw. I went to ur website and checked out the Mehndi part. I used to do some mehndi stuff when I used to live in Asia .. Very cool to see that word used again.
