Here's a 3D Set I am working on for my 3D short entitled, 'Orc Forest'.

Here's a link: Orc Forest

Take care,

very nice details in your modelling, I really like the organic look and the overall atmosphere.

Are you planning to branches and details to the surrounding trees? I had a project that needs lots of natural foilage, but Maya's paint effects seem somewhat cliche and are slow to render. I'm still trying to find a good approach.

I too went to your site.. and I thought.. wow this guy's really obsessed with Orcs
Then I saw you have been working with Blizzard on those Cinematic Warcraft trailers and it all made sence . Have you any idea how many times I've been watching those trailers frame by frame??
I have often wondered why Blizzard don't do animated movies instead because their trailers and cinematics are simply amazing.
Did you do any work on the Diablo II cinematics as well?

Did you start out as a painter or 3D
animator? Do you use Maya?

I went to your website and the walking
Orc seems to have something swinging
underthat loin cloth. ha ha.

Hunago: Glad you like it...the fun is adding cool details..and I still have to add some more. Yep the trees need more branches and I need more variation in the trees in general, including trees of narrower diameter and such. As it is the scene is starting to slow because of the grass, so I will have to keep the grass hidden or in a separate file while I add other plants and such throughout. By the way, I am using MAX and doing everything by hand..though I could prolly use a plug-in such as 'Druid' right about now. (I think that's what it's called).

Jabber: Hi there..thanks for checking out the site. The Orc walking test was a fairly early walk test done with Character Studio and the Skin modifier. I'm using Max.

Diruo: Hey cool, thanks for shecking the site, that's why it's there. Glad I didn't do all that work fer nuthin' hah. Yep, I have a clinical obsession with all things Orcen I think. I am sure the Cinematic side would love to do feature films if given the time and budget..who wouldn't? I did not work on DII, only WarIII and WoW.

Dizzypope: Greetings. I started as a computer graphics guy with drawings on actual dead trees for a portfolio (13 years ago or so) and got into 3D when it came on the scene. I was resistant to 3D at first coz I was so enamored with D-Paint, that's like not wanting to learn to drive a Ferrari due to a morbid fascination with the Vega. Well, that's a bad analogy but eventually I embraced 3D Studio R4 (that's pre-MAX) and then got into MAX. I don't use Maya but would learn it if I had to.

Hey I think it's funny that you saw something under the Orc's loincloth, coz sadly, the Orc in question is packing...a whole lot of nothing! I am glad you thought you saw more than I added there..that's a good thing.

By the way here's a new render of the hut scene...still in progress.

Take care,
NukleoN

Just dropping by to say: Hell, that looks good! =) Can't wait to see it finished. How long did this scene take you so far?

Just a sugestion, maybe you already thought about it, but add something in the inside of the hut, tables, chairs, whatever, cause right now you can see through the sticks holding it up and it looks gray and empty. It'd be really cool if you add a fire and make it filter and come out through the separations between the sticks. Either that or add cloth or more sticks to the outside so we can't see the inside.

Other than that it's perfect, I can't wait to see the finished product

S4SB: Thanks! I'm not sure how long it's been so far..I just work on it when I have time, a few hours a night. Lately I've spent a lot of time rendering...testing volume lights, fog settings and the Entropy renderer. Right now I am doing cloth sims to see how that looks.

FFNex: Thanks for that suggestion..I agree with you, if yer gonna see through the sticks it needs to be populated..I just haven't gotten to it yet coz it's slightly lower priority, but I definitely have it planned. I really want to flesh out the forest and surroundings before I get to that.

Big Pa: Why thank you and I'm glad ye like the site. The grass was actually done with geometry and it really slows the scene unless I hide it. There is a cool tutorial for grass on 3DLuvr.com. I'll be posting new images as I get new ones worth posting!

Thanks...
