I just finished the main sketch of this and I would like to have some C&C about it. The main thing left to do is to refine the line, to have a better line art quality(thats time consuming.)
Considering its still sketchy, I'm quite happy about it up to now. It's the 1st time I try to do B&W with a Wacom, "pen&ink style". (Wacom is almost essantial for digital art, but its still not like a real pen, the quality of the line is not as good.)
No reference were used.

Yep, Digital Pens are great but you can't use them as real pencil.
What I mean is that you have to adapt your way of working. If you draw directly on an image of this size you cannot achieved precision or give a sort of "pencil" texture.
You cannot have in one stroke of your digital pen a perfect line ( at least on photoshop I mean, Painter is different for that ) without working with a high def image.
Except from that, my comment on your drawing is that it seems to me that you did not took the time to use all the advantages of working in digital :
- How is it that your left hand is all fuzzy and seems to have been over-drawn (10 fingers on 1 hand? ), when you can use a digital rubber or add some white.
- Moreover, there are some problem of proportions. The right fore arm is too short in comparison with the upper arm. The head seems also to have no volume under the hood.
- In a "movement" point of view, I would have put the mage more on the right side of the picture, even if it hides half a mountain, to give more depth and perhaps give more place to his glance, since he his looking to the left side
- Give the left-arm something to do like a magic trick. For the moment this hand seems to be useless for him. I would like to see it like in a "tiger claw" form, to show that he is casting a strong magic to his target.
- The wand could be put in a little perspective
Of course all of this is my personal point of view.
Exception made of all those remarks, I like the work you've put here. It seems you have a strong idea of what you want to draw, and all you need is some refinement in your drawing
I hope it helps |

Common, dont exagerate, there is not 10 fingers, I count only seven
The sketch evoluted while i was working, now his left hand seem "no where", "tiger claw" is a good idea.
I'm practicing my "visualisation", to create a mental image of what I want, and try to draw/paint it.
Tnx again, all your comments will be taken in consideration when i'll get home to rework it(now I'm at school).
I plan to finish and polish it to put it in my portfolio, so other C&C are welcome!
