Hey all, if I color pictures I usually draw them on paper first then scan them in...blah blah!
But this one was done all in photoshop. I havent finished it and I know some proportions are wrong but any helpful hints in making it better would be much appreciated.
Ta,

You're showing one of my El Guappo's ("We all have our El Guapo... Ours happens to be a really big scary guy coming to kill us"), the far eye on the three quarter view. I almost feel like drawing only Veronica Lake in order to avoid it (if the references are coming too fast, ignore them).
You're correct about some anatomy issues. I'd get a good anatomy book (Loomis, Barscay, Bridgeman, Civardi) and also study people. See that the eye is about halfway betweent the chin and top of the melon. The far cheek is often visible at this angle on the other side of the mouth. Most people's eyes aren't generally that large.
My advice is study and draw. A lot. That's how we all get better. |

try to draw the face using helping lines, that can help you getting the allignments of things more symetric, is it seems a bit wobly at the moment. Also, try thinking the face as primitives, volumetric objects-which is good to do with whatever you draw- a good way to exercise and think more depth to things. -Ever seen the Loomis head tutorial?, that's a really nice way to exercise doing heads in different angles. -Oh and, even though you are shading the head, think about the light angle you want and still try to think within the shapes of the head. here's a quick example:
-hope this helps
