This is a character for a comic book story I'm currently writing. I have a full background of the character and story, but I can't decide how she should look. These are some of the sketches I made so far:
null
Heres a tinsy bit of backgroung on her:
Since her youth Vessel has been a very curios child. She was always eager to learn new things and wanted to travel the world. Vessel keeps mostly to herself, she is untrusting, quiet and very personal. She does not like physical confrontations but will fight to the death if her life or freedom is threatened. She is very vengeful and holds grudges over very little things. However she will not forget a good deed either. Vessel hates crowded areas and industrial zones. Note the story takes place in a fantasy (sort of medieval world and not in our world). Vessel is 19.
I'd apriciate if you can tell me which of the above faces fits this description best in your opinion. Or if you think any changes should be made to one of the faces.

i like the top left one. she seems more original than the rest of the sketches. maybe a little bit smaller lips.
if not that one, than bottom row, second from the left. ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

Well, I went through each of the character traits and then looked through the faces to see which one seemed to "fit" best.
Bottom row, first on the left got the most votes. She just seemed to embody more of the character you described.
Runners up were "Top row first on left" and "Bottom row second on left."
It's great that you're trying to experiment with different faces before you pick one. Too many comic artists have women that all look exactly alike. |

Yeah, and even then... I always try to avoid going for that universal beauty. I know it's harder drawing an interesting face, but it makes people feel more comfortable with the characters, more adressed, more engaged with the story. I have no favourite here, because, for my taste, they are all too bland. |

It also bothers me that most comic book artists draw their females exactly alike (only with different hair).
Most of these women are based off photos. But the last thing I want is for the lead character to look bland. I'm going to do a few more sketches today. Any suggestion as to how I can make her look less bland? |

I finally got a face!!!
Shes a sort of a combo of the two left ladies. I'm quite happy with her. Thanks for everyone's comments . |
