Fuckin' crap. I so wanted the Olympics in my city. Beijing mass-murders people for Christ's sake. *Grumble*.
Sorry if I offended anyone from Beijing here, but I'm mighty pissed. |

You shouldn't be pissed or surprised. Toronto never had a chance in hell, and i'm surprised at how a big a deal the candian media made out of it |

Maybe it's because Toronto is basically a snowball, thus it had no chance in hell.
One word: Concubines. |

It's really funny to me how Americans assume Canada is a "snowball". Do you also believe we're all lumberjacks that drink lots of beer and make maple syrup all day long? By the same token, I guess I should believe that Americans are a bunch of wellfare-ridden, overly patriotic, under educated, trailer park dwelling, overweight yankees with firearms? |

Actually I think it would be safer to assume the Euro view of America, in that we're all plastic fantastic, homogenized, can't-tell-our-asshole-from-the-Grand-Canyon, beer guzzling, sister raping, warmonging morons.
And I've been to Canada several times during the winter. TORONTO (far south Canada) gets 2 feet of snow on the sidewalks. That's a lot for a New Mexican like me who gets 6 inches of precipitation a YEAR. So, yeah. Canada is a snowball, eh.
How did you get all that from me calling Toronto a snowball, anyways?
Hoser. :p |

Well, you do. You also live in constant fear of being attacked by polar bears |

its weird how a country that is very far to the north would be cold and get snow. i dont understand your thinking impaler... plus, china supplies us with all our cheap plastic toys and some slave labor. we can at least give them the olympics. and then profit off them by their huge population. its all about cash...

I'm in Hong Kong, which is a part of China, more or less.
Chinese here see the Olympic bid as recognition by the world that they are just entitled to host the Olympics as any Western country. The chance to host the Olympics offers them the chance to showcase their country - which has some amazing history and culture.
It bothers me that the spirit of the Olympics has been given to an authoritarian regime, but I can only hope that having the world's media wandering around the city will force a change in attitudes towards human rights.
Incidentally, the allegation that China is a nation of mass murderers could easily be applied to the US - how many hundreds of prisoners have been killed there this year? The US is up there with China Iraq and Libya when it comes to killing its citizens. |

And they're the world leaders when it comes to indirect genocide |

Hi,It seemed to me I am the only mainland Chinese here. Let me tell you something in China.
Well, there ARE many people get excited about it, but I am not one of them.
About, let's say one half of the educated CHinese don't support it, not for political reason, but economical problem.
The cost, you know, as a developing country, Chinese cant afford it without cutting down investments in many other areas--for example, the development of west.
And to me, I dont like Beijing, It doesn't like a capital city at all--too vulgar.
As for the political reason most of you cared about, it seemed not so urgent to us.
But Chinese are not cold-blooded.
Say, if you dont like your Government, can you change it as you wish? ![](images/smiles/icon_rolleyes.gif) |

sorry for the grammatical mistake,
Not one half, I want to say about half of the educated Chinese dont support it now.
It's good cause many Chinese are begining to have their own idea.
It's good to have different points of view and different voice. |

the "hope that having the world's media wandering around the city will force a change in attitudes towards human rights" (typo dave) played a big role in giving the olympics to beijing, i understand. as jay leno said, it did after all work so well with hitler in 1936. |

China also sells the organs of the executed to the highest bidders.
They kill people for having a copy of the United States Constitution.
Whoever said the media wandering around Beijing will generate sympathy for the oppressed and disgust towards the oppressors was right.
China isn't a developing nation. It's 6,000 years old. It's as developed as it will get with the current regime. That's the problem with an Imperialistic government system. You can only go so far with a tank of gas. |

Begin Rant
Does anyone really give a shit where the olympics are ? I think not. Other than raising your national patriot feathers, no one really cares.
I have heard that the majority of the sports centers in Sydney are now mostly vacant, and at the taxpayers expense. That would suck to pay for a lot of expensive stuff that wont really ever be used again.
As for all the shit throwing about the killing americans and the mass murderers in china... how about this.
Mao - The industrial revoultion and all of its fun and starvation for the masses.
US - Vietnam, and don't tell me there was a purpose to protecting the south vietnamese from the north vietnamese, that is all bull shit and we all know it. If there was a purpose we would have stayed.
Just because you live in a small country does not mean some wacky ass mass murderer was clubbed to death by your distant relatives, we all have skeletons, period.
Tell me a country that does not have some sort of skeleton in it's closet. We all do, period end of story.
As for the olympics, the tickets will be more expensive than most all of us can afford. If the games are not in are backyard, than probably none of us could afford to go to them.
We that in mind, let china host the games, hopefully this helps some of the people better their lives.
End - Rant |

umm, i think beijing isn't the most bad thing that could happen...
i'm waiting for the opening festival where i can surely see lots of nice girls =)
therefore, that may be the final reason that made the decision between beijing and toronto :
think about a chinese girl in your bed and a female lumberjack fearing polar bears and making maple sirup all day *g* |

ok gekitsu. you drew the last straw about making fun of canadians... their is absolutly nothing wrong with female lumberjacks that fight off polar bears and make maple sirup!!! i happen to know several girls like that and they are very nice girls. i even go out there with them and chase them out of our town (its a lot of fun actually). now if you will excuse me. i got to put some more snow on my igloo. it's melting a bit, being the summer and all.
