A work in progress because I keep coming back to it and trying to fix what I know is wrong with it as much as possible, it's difficult at this stage because I've pretty much commited to my lines.
Her right arm is shorter than her left, her left wing is too large, the left leg doesn't look quite right bent the way I want it...
other than that, Im pleased with the way it turned out over all. I should prolly get rid of her abs, but the rest im kewl with.
Please, comments, sudgestions, criticism... I hardly spend as much time drawing as I should and I just picked up an anatomy book for the first time in my life so all help is much appreciated.

I like your concept for this picture. Angels are usually shown so peaceful. I like the pose of the figure and the view point also. Your view point is kind of from the top making the legs foreshortned wich is a bit wierd to draw with a woman, because if you make her legs and hips too small compaired to her shoulders she will start to look like a man. Her spine looks very strait, when people move, their hips move opposite to their shoulders creating a curve in the spine, try to add that in. I did q quick redrawing of your pose, hope it helps. |

There are certainly anatomy issues, but the most important thing I can say is: don't chain yourself to a drawing.
"...I've pretty much commited to my lines"
If you find a point where things aren't working, start over. Real frustration happens when you spend hours on rendering a piece when the basic structure is flawed (perspective, composition, etc.) and you find that no amount of fine tuning can fix it. Make certain the forms are the way you want them before investing days in the minutia. We learn more from failures, so I tend to have a lot of them. Get hold of a couple good anatomy books (Bridgman, Civardi, Loomis) and keep going. |

if u like that angel.
why do u spend soo much time on the wing, instead of spending time on her face?
she got every thing that an angel has, but she looks awfully un-natual.
when u think about the wing it looks like any trangle, actually it shoudln't be like htat.
legs are soo short.
thats it.
from my experience: draw the basic shpae, before get into detail... other wise u have to draw it again. |
