Hi, this is my first attempt at a landscape. Ever heard of Dale Terbush? He painted these fantasy landscapes with briliant and bright colors like nobodies buisness.
Anyway, I wanted to have a go at it, please let me know how it's coming along.

looking good.. i think the sky is very well done- you should try and refine the tree and water to the same finish level- they're a bit too sketchy right now.
the tree seems a bit too bright , i'd darken it almost to a level of a flat silhouette.
on the other hand- the sea is a bit too dark- the bright skys should probably reflect a little more into it, especially towards the horizon. maybe some reference could help here. |

Dude that picture is the shit. I like it a lot. The tree could possibly stand to be less sketchy, possibly, but it looks great. |

I like it, although the tree doesn't sit right. I always feel (even when I sketch trees) that people try too hard to make the branches seem to stretch out and be spindly enough, making it seem forced. It's an enigma that I don't quite know how to remedy, however, love that fiery sky. |

Nice one!! The sky looks GREAT! The reflection of the sky wraps around the tree too much - you should maybe try making the tree darker and only having it's silhouette lit up. And the water rather looks like oil... if you want it to be some kind of dirty/black fluid that's ok, if it should be water, you'll have to klight it way up and have it reflect the sky (water itself is transparent, but it always seems to be blue because it reflects the blue sky - so in your pic you should give it more of orange/reddish colors...)
I like the form of the tree tho - it fits the picture's general expression.
by the way - isn't "armegedon" spelled "armageddon"?
regards,

Hey, thanks for the help. I'll post an update tomarrow since the painting is at school. I fixed some of the problems with it (I hope...). It's hard to get the color right because the moniter I use at school hasn't been calibrated for at least 3 years. :-/ |
